Project_HSR on 86 camaro

Hello all, I have used this website for lots of useful tips and information, but only recently have I started posting. Here is my deal I purchased a 1986 Camaro with the 305 carb motor. I have put in its place a 355 Holley stealth ram engine. I am using the wiring harness and computer from a 1989 GTA, I have all the equipment to burn and monitor my own chips I have a 2000 stall converter with a transgo shift kit in the tranny and the rear end is yet to have anything done to it. I have not yet had the joy of firing it up, I work weird hours, I am an Operator at an Industrial chemical plant in Texas on the gulf coast. Modifications that I plan on are very simple, 3 toggle switches 1 for fan 1 for the ignition, and 1 for the fuel pump, which is a holley inline fuel pump since the carb'ed motors had a mechanical fuel pump. Another modification is the addition of a B&M shifter. I am sure the mod list will get longer but that is all for now. I am going to post a few pics so you can take a gander or use them for information. Thanks!

Damn, dude. You need either a bigger image, or a better resize.

I don't think you will need the 3 toggles, the 89 GTA computer will control them for you.

3 toggles

I like the fact that I will have switches, don't know why just always wanted a car with toggle switches, some of you out there might understand. And since I can make them useful why not? Plus I made an aluminum panel to go in place of the stock shifter cover (see pic).

Very cool. I just converted my 86 over to a 355 HSR and I'm gonna fire it up this week. My main problem was converting the distributor over to a remote mount coil (86 has in cap) so it took a while to get parts, wire, mount the coil, and set timing. If you have any problems check www.stealthram.com as well.

Re: Project_HSR on 86 camaro

Where did you mount the ecm and drill the fire wall when going from carb to hsr?

Re: Project_HSR on 86 camaro

The great thing was I didn't have to modify anything, it all went right where the carb computer and harness went.

Direct bolt in!
