stealth ram and heads - what ones?

I'm thinking (again) about getting a stealth ram.

Initially the plan was a vortec stealth ram with E-tec 170s.

For the same money, I can go with a standard stealth ram and any of a number of different heads, including Trick Flows, or the new Patriot 195s which seem pretty interesting.

I have a hydraulic cam, and I don't have the budget to upgrade to a roller, but a new hydraulic cam won't break the bank. Currently I've got a 214/224 .442/.465 112lsa grind.

I've got a MAF system but I'd probably convert to SD with the HSR/heads upgrade.

The short block is a .030 350 with flat top forged slugs.

I would like a nice broad, flat torque curve similar to what you'd see from an LS1. I love my TPI torque, but I realize that the HSR is an entirely different type of system. I just don't want a high-rpm strip car that's got no low end nut for the street.

So... what do you guys suggest?

Im running AFR 190's with my HSR and I think its pretty good. my cam is a little bit bigger then your but I also have a 383 as well. Theres a lot that gonna change when you switch over. I think your best bet is to head over to stealthram.com and see what those guys are running. I have only used one pair of heads so I cant compare.

my cam specs are as follows. 224/230 .502/.510 (w/1.5rr), 112 LS. I have not had it to the track. I put down just over 300rwhp on a MD Mustang Dyno. Most guys say those dynos read lower numbers becuse the dyno puts a load on the car so the numbers you get are actual numbers. Anyway, I planon getting some times when the tracks around here open

I am running 355ci, TF G1 heads with HSR, hot cam, 700r4, 3.73 gears with a 2600 stall, thing roasts the tires no problem off the line as if I am brake torq'n it. I have had an LT1 intake and stock tpi on this motor also, the HSR is the best all around, better low end than the LT1 and better top end than the stock tpi.

I have my stealthram on top of pro topline 200's with a cc306 cam and with a good tune it has plenty of street manners, but by the top of third it's kinda scary for public roads

Seems like way too much head for a 350 with a mild-ish cam.

I'm putting that combo on my 406. You're right about the cost (i sold my regular HSR and bought a VHSR), but after reading up on the E-tecs, they sound like a quality piece with solid results. I don't doubt AFRs would probably be better, but I went down to Summit on a weeknight and walked out with heads. No muss, no fuss.

I'll try to post results once I get it back together (hopefully in the next couple weeks)
