HSR Stealth Ram vs. TPI? What Gives?

Everyone knows that a stock TPI system can significantly hurt your performance on a modified motor. So people look around to unchoke their engine.

Some people suggest a HSR because of the good midrange to top end power.

The thing is.... why not buy a HSR? Summit sells the lower base and plenum for $299. Which btw is cheaper than a new set of SLP runners....

So... if HSR is so great and at a great price why is everyone trying to upgrade TPI?

Is there extensive modifications to do on a HSR?

I think most shy away because you lose the EGR function for emmisions compliance.
I didn't
Pulls much better than my old TPI and the cost for me was definatly better.
Low end torque is just a bit lower than I had but not bad at all.

I let off at 100, it didn't stop pulling.

Something to watch while you contemplate the swap

Well fist of all it don't fit under a trans am hood without cutting the brace, I had a stealth ram but decided to sell it cause of this. Second is well TPI just looks cool lol. To me the stealth ram is pretty kick *** piece and built well I thought, something everyone should be looking into then trying to hop up the TPI unless your still using the 5.0L.

Hey nelapse since you like building stuff if you can come up with a upper plenum for the stealth ram that would fit nicely under the T/A or C4 hood that looks half decent and is semi cheap I'am sure you would have some buyers. Lot of idea's floating around on how to do this.

There is a tone of HSR threads on here. not to mention a stealthram website with all the info there to.

In *MY* personal opinion, the HSR is not a really great intake. But anything is better than TPI.
