proper torque specs 4 vortec stealthram

On the instructions it says 11 foot/pounds for a final step, someone else told me it should be the usual 35 f/p. So far its holding up with the 11 foot/pound as per instructions. Also I am using the factory intake gaskets with the silicone seals around the ports. Just took it for the first ride with the new engine, man feels good to drive her after a year n half. Any info will be greatly appreciated thanx

I was told stock vortec intakes & bolts will bottom out in the holes.
So 11 is ok.
11 may not be enough.
15 felt better on my carb intake. And they are less likely to come loose.
Edelbrock instructions say to use loctite.

yeah, its only 12-15ft-lbs. They are not perpendicular to the intake face, so they are applying alot more pressure than you think. The bolts are only 5/16" that is usually around 22ft lbs for a grade 5 bolt, but I guess they only need less due to the angle, and torque really just to load the bolts correctly.

the bolts don't bottom out (well, yeah, if they are too long), but if you are using the factory type gasket set/bolts, they should have a metal insert to prevent over tightening. Loctite is an OK idea, but remember that will reduce the friction and make your torque value even less before it hardens.

Right on thanx guys I just wanted to make sure as it is a new engine and didn't want to have any problems. The intake gaskets are OEM w/ the rubber seals around the ports and I have seen some fel-pro that looked pretty thick, should I be using those for the stealthram?
