OK!..I got my car running!
I fired the car up after receiving the chip from LSRacingchips...Im still waiting on my digital6+ back from MSD so I just bypassed all my box wires and hooked back factory... and it FIRED right up no hesitation, barley even hit the key...I was like DAMN!!!!.
I actually cranked it yesterday and let it run for about 15-20 mins..just fluctuating the RPM's but never went over 2500 unless I gased it a few times and just went to 3000...was loud cause I still just got striaght headers...Im still working out the bugs...like cooling!..I got a post in the cooling section.
but today after changing a hose fitting I fired it again to set all the crap.
TIming must have been off from lastweek when I tried to crank it and set it with my old 305 chip...but I think it was running way lean I cant tell.
anyways, I had a hard time keeping it gased with the timnig thing unpluged so I used a stick in the floor board to keep it just enough so I can get outside the car...
I then set timing to stock 6* but its like 6.5* and I shut it off and plugged the thing back in..and cranked it back up...while running at idle it reads 26* and when I gas it it goes up to 39*...does that sound right?
I set the TPS to .55 and when I move the throttle all the way it goes to 4.33
I still need to set the IAC..
fuel pressure is at 46 with the vaccum unplugged and the engine running..plugged its at about 42ish...does that sound about right?
I'll post more as soon as I mess with it and find more ****..
I'll post a vid of idle

Re: OK!..I got my car running!
here's a vid of the car...cant really hear it good cause of the crappy camcorder...but oh well..I cant tell if it running lean or what?.also I cant really tell if anything sounds off with the motor cause the headers are right THERE...and loud!
when putting the car into gear the rpm's dont drop at all..I guess cause of the 3400 stall
I wanna drive it but I cant til I get the center link fixed..it got bent along time ago when I drop the car off the jack on the center link...and with the new 7qt oil pan..its hitting right on the pan and I dont want to drive it cause that may move and dent the pan into the crank...so ive got another but gotta wait to I cant get it towed to the shop and have them replace it...then I can drive it home and then risk driving it to the exhaust shop to have them piece together a y-pipe to my borla..other than the sound will it be ok to drive with open headers about 50miles? or is that bad to do?

Running a modified 350, 355, or 383 the engine will want lots of timing. Close to 40 degrees total advance sounds about normal

Re: OK!..I got my car running!
well that sounds good that atleast I got the timing set right...LSR said to set it to stock 6* and his chip would take care of the rest....Im just not sure if its running lean or not? you can see my A/F gauge on the pillar and its not reading alot of fuel, could that be because of the open headers and not alowing to read the right amount of combustion coming out of the engine?....but I do have the fuel pressure set to 45-47...LSR says to set it to that too. any way I can tell if it L or R?
I got my coil just hanging there with a zip tie until I get my box back then I can mount it back where I had it on the firewall..I didnt feel like cutting the wires and extending them to reach the coil.
Cam doesnt have ALOT of lope from what I can hear..but then again the cam builder says it wouldnt lope like mad but...the cam is a 226/232@50 281/286 advertised 531/537@50 w/113.5 lsa
how does it sound to you guys?
heres another..its leftover from where the other cuts off

Re: OK!..I got my car running!
has anyone ever put their ear down on topof the plenum? when I do it I hear a loud wurly buzzing sound.....is that normal?
arent the rpm's or something suppose to change if I remove the PVC from the valve cover? cause when I do nothing changes...I have it running on the fitting under the plenum if that matters.
I set my IAC and raised the idle up to about 850 ....cause its says IDLE RPM's on my cam card to be 850
oh and I found 2 leaks..1 big!...the fitting on the side of the trans is pouring trans fluid out.. and the other that I found seems to be the gasket on the timing cover where the balancer goes.
