How Necessary is the Holley Stealth Ram Adjustable Regulator?

Just curious to how important this part is, my fuel pressure runs 45 off throttle 50 on throttle now. That's where i plan to tune the chip at so would it be wise to just save my $50 and get the basic regulator; or would I be shooting myself in the foot later on when I had to get an adjustable at full cost?

personaly i think its good to have.. allows for you to play with it while your on the dyno.. however i would extremely recomend not using a holley regulator at all.. theyre bad news.. i have a stealth ram sitting in my garage that ill be installing next weekend and a kirban adjustable regulator as per the suggetion of many on thirdgen..

well the stock non adjustable regulator is set for 36-38 psi i believe. its a stock grand national regulator.

the adjustable one is needed to get the pressure to 45psi or so. i run my roughly at 46 psi WOT. On stock L98 tune on my stock L98 with just HSR, it goes rich at over 5100rpms so i dont need more pressure.

I have a holley regulator and so far it runs great. holds pressure and no leaks but its only been about a month or so. lol i pray it dont break

I literally just got back from buying some Stealth Ram fuel rails from a board member and he said he put a stock GN regulator from Napa on it because the Holley regulators are known to have metal shavings in them and are low quality. I got lucky on that one; soon as i find out what the guys screen name was on here i'm giving him a positive in the classified forums (talked to him personally at the track and I don't remember his name).

Sounds about right- mine reads around 40 psi and I thought my gauge was junk for the longest time. That seems awfully low, I think I may get an aftermarket adjustable one (again, since a member here ripped me off) and see if that helps with tuning.

Mine had a couple of shavings from where the injector holes were drilled into the fuel rails. It definitely didnt come from the regulator, for me anyway.

Anyway my non adjustable regulator reads 36psi with vacuum hose on and ~45 with the vacuum hose off. Is an adjustable regulator really needed when i can adjust fuel in my prom?

No you don't need adjustable regulator if you have right size injectors to your engine.
