Fuel regulator retaining spring?.

The adjusting screw on my fuel regulator keeps wiggling loose, dropping my fuel pressure, and making the car un-startable and or un-driveable with Afr leaned out to 19-20.
Obviously there is a big spring inside the regulator. I'm wondering if there was suppose to be a small external spring to keep tension on the bolt? Or maybe a lock nut to keep it from wiggling out?
