Re: HSR injector size

how big of a cam and are the heads going to be ported or not?

For most purposes, 30lbs are too big. your better off with 22's for now or 24's if the cam is abit bigger than 1 size up from stock

Re: HSR injector size

heads will not be ported yet i'l just pick up a set to directly swap and cam im not sure yet nothing major. current plans are to just install the hsr and heads for simple means of running and tuning the car. car has been been sitting for about a year now, and im more interested in installing parts troubleshooting any problems and getting the car to drive again, then once this is done i will continue with some porting and more mods.

Re: HSR injector size

I'm running HSR with the stock 22's for now. L98 with 9.5+ cr, 212/218 cam and ported stock heads. (check my sig. the dyno numbers are TPI) Seems to be fine with tuning. I do notice a bit of power fall off over 5200. May be the cam but I thought I'd try the 24's when I can run across a set at a good deal. The HSR is a lot better than the TPI in my opinion. The midrange is awesome and I haven't noticed any drivability problems at low r's. I pull 5th gear at 1000-1200 rpm with no problem. And that's with 3.27 rear gears. Running mid 8's in the 1/8 mi and getting 18+ mpg.

Noticed you have 3.73's. You can get away with a lot more cam and probably 24's.

Now if you're going to do your own prom tuning you may want to stick with the 22's and get that dialed in then see if you need bigger injectors. Prom burning is no big deal. Knowing what to change... well that's a learning process. There are a lot of people willing to help but the more I do it the more I realize that no one can really TELL me what to do. I have to figure it out and that takes time. But if you are going to realize the full potential of your combo, it's a must.

Re: HSR injector size

thanks 4 the info, yeah il stick with the 22's for now i guess, heads will be 113 heads unported for the time being, as 4 the cam that will be more threads i will have to research to make up my mind. heads will eventually be ported and so will the hsr, but for the time being i want to run the hsr and new head combo to begin the reprograming process. im sure this will take time, ive done lots of reading folowing up on the threads, so once the hsr in on there i will buy the tuning equip. and begin, not really in no rush, car is not used for any reasons rather then to just fix up and continue to upgrade. once i get the retuning down to where the car feels good and is drivable i will retake everythign off and do soem more mods like a bit of porting and head work, then retune. guess the 30lbs injectors will sit around for quite a while and wait for my mods to get to such a point is ever needed(long time away) thanks though next step is finding a place to do soem powder coating on the hsr before i mount it or maybe just a few coats of high temp paint for now so i can mock up, redo the fuel line, do some fab. work etc.

Re: HSR injector size

FYI, the HSR ran fine with the 22's and a stock prom. Well... at least it ran. Had a little hesitation on tip in and got pretty sorry milage. (still ran 8.60's 1/8 mi) But with a tune, man this thing runs. Now at cruise rpm's I barely have to touch the throttle. And the powerband is so seamless. It's sort of decieving though. There's no burst of power like when the secondaries kick in with a carb. It just pulls in a linear fashion. 4500 plus is a happy place!
