Hey, I haven't seen any buzz about the new complete BBK TPI intake system due to be released winter 2008. Does anybody know anything about these? I contacted BBK and they said they are on schedule for release and the price should be around $699 complete for intake base and plenum and all installation hardware. Check out BBK.com to see the dyno numbers and pics.

Something tells me you haven't searched "BBK Intake" on this site.

Re: NEW BBK TPI intake
I'm recently back to the TPI world having owned an 89 formula 350 and an 87 305 tpi car years back and currently have a 67 "GTO" 400 4 speed convertible. I just came across a beautiful bone stock 89 GTA 5.7 that I couldn't pass up. Just got back from Atlanta Dragway test and tune friday night and am looking to improve the 15.19 at 89.9 mph timeslip. In the past I built a 383 tpi for my 87 with vortecs and a roller but I couldn't get the chip tune right. Yanked all the tpi stuff. I'm older now and more experienced and want to speed this thing up while keeping it a tpi. That's why I'm new to the forum and haven't seen much about the BBK setup.

I'm a little concerned that the BBK unit with press in o-ringed thin steel runners may be rather limited in its application(s). Should work great on near stock and moderately modified 350s,,, but you're not going to be able to increase the entrance diameter of the base, or port the runners,,, and the intake to head transision angle is questionable - it might not be any better than the Edelbrock intake.

If you're in a hurry to pump things up... you might want to look at the Holley Stealth Ram (requires trimming on the hood bracing for a T/A) or the FIRST Injection's TPI intake ( www.firstfuelinjection.com ). I've run both and either one will deliver. The HSR acts more like a dual plane carb intake and works better for higher RPM applications. The FIRST acts more like a SuperRam (with more potential) and delivers a SUPER strong midrange rush and depending on the heads, cam, exhaust, and how much you port on it,,, it can still provide a very good top end charge.

Both the HSR and FIRST are available now and if you're starting from scratch and would buy an aftermarket throttle body and adjustable fuel pressure regulator, the FIRST at $1000 including the rails and the equivalent to a dual 52mm is a pretty good deal (but you'll need an external regulator). The FIRST base flows 300 cfm right out of the box and can be ported to look more like a dual-plane big-block intake than a TPI small-block.

Here's an old link to the FIRST showing the porting potential. I've had this project on hold for a couple years,,, but will be back on it soon.

Here's a more recent link with very good results using the FIRST base and modified SLP runners

Here's a link to an article on the StealthRam

Also use the search function to check on posts of more than a few happy users of the StealthRam (Stealth Ram or HSR).

running the stealth ram with a 274xe cam, thing feels like a honda between 2000-3000 rpms, then once it hits three youre at six before you could count three four five six out loud
