Re: Air intake question

Yeah they would work, the only problem is they are not cold air intakes but just low restriction hot air intakes.

Don't buy that stuff. Go look on Hawks 3rd gen for a cold air intake. Or build one youself. Home depot or Lowes as lots of good stuff you can use if you go that way.

Re: Air intake question

I got the same intake from ebay... I was not that impressed with it. First the coupler to the t.b. was way to tight. it fit like crap. So i used my stock 1 which works just fine. There was filings in the tubing from when they cut it. Not something you want in your motor lol. In the picture it looked like the intake continues past the engine bay. It just sits in the same location. Also im not to sure if the filter is reuseable...

So i could of spent my money so where else. Try hawks?

Or you could buy this intake not the worst buy...

Mine looks good and the tubing is bigger than the factory came with. Im going to use my older K&n filter. i will extend the pipe with prob. pvc... pluming pipe. And make a nice 4'' hole with a knock out cutter. This will be a cold air kit that hopefully stays dry if i get caught in the rain.

Good luck!

Re: Air intake question

Thanks for the heads up T/Atime. however i think i might go ahead and try my luck with the one avilable kit. It is only 35 dollars. On the advirtisement on Ebay, it says that the air filter is washable and reusable. By the way, do you know of any other mods i can do to my stock 305 TPI to make more power?

Thanks again for the heads up!

I guess it depends on the direction you would like to go with your car. My car is in the early stages of modifications. Ive alway tryed to make a point of looking ahead and buying parts i will not grow out of.
Exhaust is always a good upgrade... free mods is worth a try, like a collant bypass. Lower thermostat like a 160 depending on your weather. i have headers so i had no need for my smog pump any more, so thats gone now. You can also play with your t.v cable to adjust your shift points.

Rear end gear swap has always been on my list to do and next spring it will be one of my upgrades. Motor will be last for me... its still running strong in its stock form (stock heads & cam). So ill run it till it dies lol.

Alot of the members might suggest for guys like us is to just wait till its time and then set a power level you want and then build a motor to that. Not a bad idea considering intake, injectors, heads, and cam..... are all to be installed as one step. (can't do one with out the other)... Intake is a good start, Good luck!

Re: Air intake question

Well, I want to squeeze more power out of my stock 305 for daily driving. Like improving the throttle response. I plan on bringing it to the track a few times next summer to test it out. My car is in the early stages of modification too. I have a Flowmaster cat-back exhaust, but it has stock headers. My 305 is completely stock otherwise. I think Intake and headers would be good for now. However i am only 16 with no job and i am without a garage, but i shall save my pennies.

Re: Air intake question

I have an 89 gta 350 and Ive seen aftermarket ram air hoods that look nice, but I have the maf sensor. How do I get by this? Is it not even possible. and I thought of a way to make my own cold air intake sorta, but the ram air hoods look awesome but would be useless if i cant get it to work. Any Ideas?

Re: Air intake question

i have a aftermarket ram air hood, but with a stock air intake. I was thinking of making the ram air intake functional but i dont like messing around with the $500 fiberglass hood.
