HSR question

Hello,

I have an 88 gta with original l98 (iron heads). when I look on summit and jegs, they don't list the weiand stealth ram as compatible. jegs is at least descriptive enough to say the 7540 kit (non vortec) is for 1957-86, 87 and up with aluminum heads. Is there a hsr intake kit for my engine or do i need to go to aluminum heads?

what reason would they have to exclude the iron head l98's from 87 and up?

thanks all... i'm sick to death of fighting with 20+ bolts and 7 gaskets on my tpi setup every time i need to change something or remove the plenum, etc.

thanks all

Re: HSR question

The HSR is set up for the early heads with all the bolts at the same angle . I think the holes are slotted for the late heads but you need to use the wedges to bolt the 4 centre bolts on . The other thing is the HSR has no EGR so if you need a visual for smog it won't pass .

Because makers list parts as direct bolt on only.
Look at most SBC intake listings.

State "Fits 55-86 and Corvette alum heads" because the Vettes retained the old intake bolt angle.
If you are lucky, they will also list an identical intake as for "iron heads with centerbolt covers" because these came with the different bolt angle
They don't allow for the fact you can slot the holes on any SBC intake to fit the late iron heads.

Re: HSR question

my hsr and the 2 others my friends have all have the 4 center holes slotted stock.

you don't need the wedged washers/spacers but I would reccommend using them so that the bolt heads will sit flush.
