SuperRam/406/RollerCams?????

I'm thinking of pulling my comp XE284(240/246 .507 .510) Flat tappet cam from my 406. I think its power band doesn't match that of the SuperRam I have on the motor. The XE284 makes power from 2300-6500, but the SuperRam is done by around 5400RPMs..So I'm looking to go with a roller cam. I'm hearing good things about the TPIS ZZX cam. I have also heard good things about the LPE219 but think it would be to small for the 406. So let me know what you guys are running in you SuperRam big cubic inch small blocks?..I'm attaching a dyno sheet showing how my XE284 Cam never got to make power over 5400. So I'm looking for this roller cam to make its max power below 5500.

Re: SuperRam/406/RollerCams?????

In the past, when I couldn't find THE camshaft for an engine combination I called the tech guys at Comp Cams (with one of their cam sheets fully filled out) and had them build me a custom grind.... It's not all that much more and my experience has always been to end up with a cam that is absolutely correct for my car.... A custom grind does come out a lot cheaper then 2 or 3 attempts to buy the correct off the shelf grind......

espcially, IIRC comps cams are priced based on the cost of the cam core, so whether the cam is off the shelf or custom, it will cost the same as long as the core is the same material. (billet, cast, ect.)

You will want a cam with good lift while keeping the duration on the mild side. This will help you in making midrange. I like the aggressive ramp of the XFI lobes but do not care for the 113lsa that the off shelf are ground with.

PM me and I'll send you a grind.

part # 12-467-8

You never went back to the Superram Modification thread. 82FirebirdTA made 403rwhp and 439rwtq with a 280XFI in his 406.

lash hot intake .20 ex .22 (even with this lash it's )

232/236 @.50 563/586 lift with a 1.6 rocker. this is fantastic for a 11.0 eng pulls hard to 5900 to 6000 pulls gobs of vac. also..
