355 Holley Stealth Ram H/P
Hey guys, I was wondering if you guys could help me out with a couple of questions I got about my hsr 355 build, I've posted a couple threads and never really got the answer I was looking for but decided to go ahead and give it another try, I'm just interested in how close to 300 HP I am with my set up, its mostly stock with a set of crappy heads but thats all I have right now til after christmas. Ok It's a 4 bolt main, It has casting # 624 heads 72cc, flat top piston 4 valve relief, Bronze liners, milled 010 3 angle valve job 010 block, trw 4.030 pistons, hastings single moly rings, clevite bearings HV oil pump fel pro gaskets, Double roller timing chain, valves adjusted oil primed, and it has a 272/468 erson cam the duration of it is 224/224 and Im going to put my holley stealth ram on top..... I just want a rough estimate of h/p that I should expect ..... I know I need new heads because I know the 624's are a POS but I'm on a budget rite now ill probably get some iron eagles or sportsman ii in april more towards spring or maybe in the summer, I would go vortec but my hsr base is not a vortec one, I really just need to know what I can expect with the stuff that's in front of me now, ill worry about upgrades in a few months ....... if you guys could help me out with your expertise I would greatly appreciate it........ just a 19 year old college student tryna go fast LOL....

You guys need to get a good set of headers and exhaust before you do the HSR swap, if you don't already. You will notice an increase in power with the HSR alone, but to get the best results a full exhaust will be needed. A full exhaust will probably get as much power as the HSR and you won't lose much torque, if any.

You have a 700R-4 transmission, so you're best bet is to go with a shorty style header..... There just isn't alot of room for the longtube headers... trust me!

Re: 355 Holley Stealth Ram H/P
It all depends on your local emission/ inspection requirements, so check into that BEFORE you do any swap. If you cant get a set of headers to pass a visual inspection you definatley won't be able to pass with a WSR (Holley has changed the SR brand over to a Weiand brand). I had a set of $100 flowtech headers and I took it to a muffler shop to fab a y-pipe, $100. I suggest getting the y fabbed by a muffler shop because it will be built for YOUR car and it will save alot of time. Shorties are the way to go for a simple install.
