is the Weiand 7540 ram the right one for an 87 gta with a 5.7. also will this fit under my hood it looks a bit high for clearance

Looks like the right #; just be sure it's NOT the Vortec one, unless you're changing to those heads.
Yes there is a fitment issue. Problem is the TB: the HSR is parallel to the crank, and therefore angles upward at the front, which points the TB upward somewhat. I've heard of some people being able to notch out the hood reinforcemnt and make it fit and some that it still wouldn't. I've also heard of someone making a wedge-shaped TB spacer. Other than that, it fits.
