Weird that its not branded Holley all over the place. What do you use for your throttle cable set up?

Carb cable. You are missing the cable stud.

Well that makes life alot easier. I cant find a picture of that specific TB just this one...

Do you have a pic of yours set up or a pic of TB showing the missing stud?

This is how it looks in the car. I will go out to the garage in a bit and snap a closeup of the TB.

Actually here is one:

Yes. The throttle bracket is about 3/8" or more thick, so you'll need an aftermarket one with enough thread depth to get a nut on the other side.

As far as the cable bracket goes, I have the holley one that came with the TB, however I don't see why you couldn't just get an aftermarket one and adjust it back and/or up as needed.

You'll need a throttle cable for a carbureted thirdgen, of course. Don't be tempted to try and use a TPI cable, it will be too long and the curve required between the bracket and firewall gromet will make it bind and split eventually.

So I can find the stud no problem but I have no idea what will work for a bracket. I might call Holley and see what they say.

If you look at the left rear of the throttle body, see how there is a keyway in the casting forward of the bolt? The bracket goes there, locks into the keyway and tighten the nut down.

I'd use that bracket and cut a keyway. The bracket will turn otherwise.

Should be able to file a keyway in no time. It's soft aluminum.

Very true, this must be a very early model I'm guessing. Maybe before holley got to cutler?

Might be. Holley bought cutler, and by the looks of this cutler setup, i'd say yes, you have an old (pre 1999) throttle body:

Hey, if you get a chance, could you measure the height of your HSR from the china wall (or table if it's on one) to the top? I can't seem to find that measurement anywhere.

Re: Changing Set-Ups, Need Cam Advice

So whats everyone suggest for rocker arms? I was running COMP ultra golds on my last motor. They seem to be there top of the line, and theyve since revised them and the price.
I noticed Jegs has what looks to be a renamed version of the older style of COMPs http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performan...20165/10002/-1

Then theres these which they say they can take over 350lbs of spring pressure but I wonder how much more that is - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-1002-16/

And of course for an extra $10 over the above thers the new ARC golds - http://www.compperformancegroupstore...Code=SBCGOLDV8

Chinese in this current engine. I've run comps before, and the bearings wear out just as fast as the Chinese once that are $100 a set.

Which ones? I mainly ask because when I was putting my last motor together and I was researching rockers I saw alot of horror stories with broken trulions and rollers, even on brands like scorpian thats why I dished out the extra on the comps.

That and if I do end up needing the 8019's on the AFR's the added pressure that will be there.

Procomp or proform I think. I've used summit, cat, and comp. All eventually have bearing failures. I never broke a rocker, but I'd bet most of the people that have had valve float.

I might not be willing to put aluminum rockers on a motor with a solid cam though. Anything with lash might be a compounding factor for a broken lifter.

Yes. Same diameter. In fact, I had a problem with an air cleaner and had to use a 5.7 TBI (l05) spacer to raise the air cleaner because the linkage smacked the bottom of it at half throttle.

For your naturally aspirated setup, I'd pick up a cheap spectre cold air setup for a carb, and run a K&N in the fender. Unless you have a cowl hood.

Did you email Tony Mamo for cam advice?

Re: Changing Set-Ups, Need Cam Advice

Yes I'm planning on picking up a 2 or 3 inch cowl hood as one of the last buys before the car goes on the road and the only carb hats I could find were buy spectre and the extreme velocity ones.

I figured if a TBI one works I could probably get it for 10-15 bucks at the jy and run a CAI off that and yes I just picked up a intake tube off a 360 Dodge truck that will fit perfectly through the fender well. Only problem is its only 3.2" inside diameter and I'd like to run a 4" set up, might just do it 4th gen style.

I poked around AFR's site the other day and didnt see his email listed anywhere and I've been so busy getting the floorpan done I havent gotten around to looking again.
