TV cable misalignment with HSR

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a misalignment in the tv cable when running a HSR intake and 48mm throttle body as mine seems binder when adjusting it. As I rotate the throttle to WOT it comes to a stiff spot until you push harder then makes one rough click. Cable is new an routed as straight as space will allow.

Re: TV cable misalignment with HSR

There should only be an issue if the spacing between the throttle body and the bracket has changed and cannot be accounted for by the cable.

Did you come from TPI, or from TBI?

TPI the cable should work directly. TBI might require a TPI style cable. Do NOT go aftermarket with this, I remember trying 3 or 4 cables before just getting a GM cable from a dealer. The TV valve is something that must be set perfectly, and not "close enough".

Re: TV cable misalignment with HSR

I'm swapping from tpi and I'm using a gm style cable bought from a dealership.....it would seem as if the throttle body is too far towards the passenger side. Length wise is fine but where the throttle body is pulls the cable more towards the passenger side. Maybe holley solved this with their throttle body?

I had a HSR swap on my car and I used the factory TPI bracket, Throttle Body, and TV Cable.

Did you ever have issues with setting the tv cable?? Mine doesn't seem to ratchet as it should. The shifts are too soon and it seems as if it is starting in second gear.

Depress the button, pull the sheath back towards the firewall as far as it can go. Then sit inside the car, and press the accelerator gradually till its matted. TV cable adjusted.

If it isn't, then either the transmission is going, or the cable is incorrect.

This is the method I use to set mine as well.... When I do the ratcheting mechanism gives two pops instead of clicks as if it just broke free from something. This is my second new tv cable and the transmission was just rebuilt using a pro built street strip kit.

Re: TV cable misalignment with HSR

Did you buy the cable directly from GM? Do NOT trust the parts store ones. This is a part I would only ever buy from the dealer.

Yes both cables were bought directly from a gm dealership.
