Tires ...

A friend of mine just purchased an 85 TA with a carbed 305.

My questions is what is the optimal tire size for him to run???
Right now he has 215/65/r15's and says that they spin too easy. Should he upgrade up to 16's or stay with 15's and what size tires should he run. What do most of you run with your 15in rims?

all opinions welcome.

Something around a 255/50 would be the best.

If you keep the stock 15" wheels use P235/60R15's they're wider than stock, will not rub or throw off speedometer.
Or get 16's and P245/50R16 or P255/50R16.
I personally do not like the 255's especially in the front, they look too tall.
The better quality tire you get, the less problems you'll have.
Also P245/45's look cool on the front, with 245/50's on rear.

I would say 255 55 15 in the back and 235 50 in the front. My friend is running this and man it hooks up and is awesome turning

xxwarrior,
What company makes tires in those sizes???
Those are really odd sizes, and hard to find.

My '83 T/A w/ carbed 305 had 225/50/16 Bridgestone Potenza's on it when I bought it. At first I didn't like them, but they sure shine up nice & grip well too....

Just got new sneakers myself. Got an 87 5.7/350 and threw on the Falken 502 ZIEX's in a nice 245/50/16 all around. Aggressive looking tires and they handle incredibly. Pretty nice in the rain too (got stuck in the rain coming home from Jersey). They grip so well it's a little tougher to spin them from a complete stop.

USA-1 ...

I've never heard of Falken 502 ZIEX's. Where can you get them, and what will they cost.

Right now I am running GoodYear GSC's (245/50/ZR16's) on my 88 Formula. The stance, IMO, is one of the meanest, they grip like h3ll, and are pretty darn good in the rain. I sound like a Goodyear sales rep. but i honestly think these tires are the best. I got them from SLP for around $100 a piece. Not that bad!

Thanks for your input... keep 'em coming.
