Anyone in CT area, need reccomendation...
Now that the weather has finally begun to warm up here I can finally get my car painted and have it ready for the summer. But I was wondering if anyone in this general area has a reccomendation for somewhere to go to get minor ding repair done alone with a black basecoat/clearcoat paintjob. My price range is 1200 give or take. If anyone lives around here and has a reccomendation for a body shop or a paint guy I would really appreciate it!! I have no idea where to go, and don't want to make a guess. I want to do it right the first time as you can all understand....
I am right next to Danbury Ct. and am in the process of getting my black T/A painted and a new bumper cover put on that I supplied and the price is $1500. This is a friends shop in Long Island doing the work otherwise this would cost upwards of 3K if I came in off the street (stripping all paint off, fixing the dings and PPG urethanes). Stripping and painting our cars is probably one of the most expensive parts of the hobby. For $1200 you might want to try a few of the small shops in the "urban" areas like NYC. You wont get a showroom paintjob but it may fit in the budget and look nice.

Hey, nice to see ANOTHER thirdgen in New Britain
. As for places to paint a car around here, my friend had a VERY decent paint job done on his 300ZX at Top Gun in Plainville/Southington/Bristol (It's one of those cities LOL). My other friends also had a lot of body work done to a camaro that was pretty inexpensive and you could not tell the car was wrapped around a tree and there was frame damage after coming outta that shop!
Good luck, $1200 is a very healthy dose of money to spend on getting something really nice!

Markolc, thanks for the name. I will have to check them out. As for the money, I have been saving for a bit. The car WAS pretty mint when I bought it, untill someone decided to run in to it while it was in a parking lot. GGrrrr! But its been set to get painted for awhile, and I want to get it done right and get those annoying waves and dings out. Vey little work is needed. But I will check them out and get a quote.
I figure for 1200 I can get something done nice, just want to make sure its money well spent and I don't have any regrets or am dissapointed with the results. From you message I couldn't tell, but you buddies camaro got fixed up by them too? Top Gun? Sounds like they did a good job.

Yeah, my buddy wrapped his camaro around a tree at 30 MPH when he skidded off the road during a heavy downpour. He didn't even call insurance to look at the car cuz he knew they woulda totalled it. Instead he limped it home (it was only a quarter mile away) and saved some cash to have the car redone. He ended paying about 2 grand for all body work (he supplied his own fiberglass hood) and got a semi-decent paint job on it. The paint job could have been better, but he didn't have the money right there to pay for the labor, and they only painted parts of the car, but it matched pretty well. My other friend in the 300ZX, had a full prep done, then had it painted with a pearl. The car came out beautiful, but i'm not sure what he paid (he tells everyone different prices and can never keep his stories straight).
