Supplies needed.
Sandpaper 80,180,220,320,400,600,1500
3M Aluminum Restorer
Mothers Aluminum Polish
a lot of paper towels or rags
an electric sander is SO MUCH easier and faster than a block
Aircraft Stripper
Steps:
put the aircraft stripper on the wheels, it's very strong so don't get on painted surfaces or the wheel.
Wipe it off
Sand beginning with 80 up to 1500. 400 grit is the last grit that will remove scratches so take your time. Once done with 400, buff out with the 3m, should be dull with no scratches. Move on to 600 and 1500. After 1500 buff out again with 3M. Now wetsand with the 1500 and use either WD-40 or Liquid Wrench to ensure it's well lubricated. Wipe off the wheels so they're dry and put the polish on them.
Plan on 3 hrs per wheel avg.
OH, and use windex (ammonia free) to keep them clean, don't use polishes or most waxes or it will dull and scratch the shine. I hear carnuba wax will help protect. Windex works really well.
