How often should I...

How often should I wash and wax my car? 5 days a week its parked in a lot, during the day, where it gets tree sap all over it. 2 days a week its parked at the lot at CSU Northridge for max 3 hours each night. It's covered outside in the driveway most nights. As of now, I wash it once a week, and wax it w/ Meguiar's cleaner wax every 6 weeks. Any suggestions on this? Its So-Cal, so the weather's not that bad.

You can wash it every day, just be sure to use 100% cotton. As far as the cleaner wax, good choice, that stuff is awesome, but it does have abbrasives in it, so definately not something to do often, every 6 weeks doesn't seem to bad. Try their step 2 and 3 also, works wonders.

Watch out for that tree sap. If it sits too long it can make little wrinkles in your clear coat that look like paint chips. No way to fix that unless you sand them out. If it sits alot a car cover will help alot with dust and stuff. I personally wash my car at least 3 times a week religiously. sometimes more depending on rain and things like that. I use Turtle wax until I find something better in a close store. I wax my car once a month with a buffer, do every little panel, toothbrush for the seems inbetween panels, inside the doors etc. Washing your car once a week is better than nothing. I know most kids at my school just let the rain wash there cars.

Depends on what kinda wax your want to use. Some cheap stuff doesnt last that long. Man I would cut that tree down! Shade is nice but not when its krapping on your car.

I wash my car about once every two weeks, but i wipe it down with a clean cotton cloth once or twice a day. I usually wax it at least twice a week as well. Lately i have been using the Meguires Show car Glaze stuff and it works great, makes the color look really deep:

Wow, so I'm not the only one who washes my car a lot. People at my school keep their cars ugly, and mine just stands out in the lot. I get compliments all the time.
100% cotton? When I wash the 'bird, I would use Zip wax and a sponge, and then dry it off with that synthetic chamois the "Absorber" (that thing works great!)

IMO, I think a big chicken on the hood would be kinda tacky, I think it only belongs on a 2nd gen.... but a chicken head.... that's a different story
