need some tire help.

o.k., i originally posted the message below in the suspension/tire/brake forum, but no-one has answered, so i'm hoping someone could maybe give me some insight on what would be the best direction to go...
***************************************************
o.k, it's time for me to purchase some wheels and tires, i have decided on getting a set of ROH ZS wheels and a set of Nitto 555 drag radails for the rear and nitto 555 extremes for the front,

i was thinking about going with 17X9.5 rim for the rear and 17X8.5 for the front, but then comes tire size selections, i decided to go with 275/40/17 rears, but undecided on what size to go with for the front either 245/45/17 or 255/40/17 according to Nitto website they will both fit the 8.5" rim

what are our suggestions?
any problems that i'm not seeing here, please let me know?

later

I beleive the 255/45/17 keeps the same diameter as the rear tire you're goin' with if that matters.

The 245/45/17 (25.67 overall diameter) is close to the same diameter as the 275/40/17 (25.63 overall diameter), and the 255/40/17 (25.08overall diameter) is about a 1/2" smaller.

i was wondering if there will be any rubbing or handling issues using the slightly smaller (255/40/17) tire, or if it would be noticable (looking at the tires from a slight distance) using a different series tire 45 (front) and 40 (rear).

thanks

I had been loking at Falkens when I saw your question and I am reminded, different company=different diameters. Anyway, if you choose to mix profiles I don't think it will be noticable. I guess if you have clearance problems go with the smaller dia., if not then its your choice.
