That's what I did in October 1999. I was driving my 1990 RS when an old guy (born in 1927!) looks right at me, then turns left into my path at an intersection about 1/2 mile from my house. My Camaro wasn't as damaged as yours, but State Farm totaled it anyway. The car only had 70k miles, so I got $4700 for it.

I called the nearest Chevy dealership, which was the one where I'd bought my first new car, an '83 Z28 16 years before....I told them I wanted a 6 speed, no t-tops, no sport appearance package, and the Goodyear Eagle GSC tires. I'm still driving that '99 Z28 today with about 53k on the odometer....

I'd still like to own another 3rd Gen someday, too.

Good luck!

Man that is really to bad man....im glad to hear your alright...thats what counts the most. I know what you mean all about your car...i feel your pain..trust me. My formula has been through it all. Been in 5 accidents and totaled twice. Still retains a clean titled because i bought it back from the insurance co both times before they slapped a salvaged title on her. Heres some pics of my accident last summer. Sorry about your car man..hope everything works out for ya.

well, it definitely falls under the "appearance" category... that sucks, man - how long were you working on it? i'm almost done with mine and people on this site have been tons of help, too. go find yourself another one one day and hook it up. that's what i did after someone messed up my '85. bought this '91 i have now (12 years ago) and hope to keep it forever. sorry 'bout the loss, bro.

man that sucks, I use to own a 93 cougar, my first car, burnt the headgaskets at 103k miles, redid them, and 4 days after doing the gaskets i smashed my front end into a telephone pole trying to show off (never do that again..) but hey, I ended up getting an 86 camaro for 600 bucks, it was a 305 tuned port, fell in love with that car then the engine block cracked due to a bad radiator (it was my fault) so then gues what? I got a damn good 84 with a 350 thats better than any car ive owned thus far.

trust me, you will get a new car, and quite possibly you will love that new car more than you ever did your z28. maybe not, but who knows, I wish you luck.

heh, I noticed you had a nice carb on that moter, do you still have it? im in the market for a new one.

Maby you should just ask him what he did since the origional post was in 2002. If he hasent gotten a third gen yet those parts are probably pretty dusty.

Edit: Sentences usually start with CAPITALS not lowercase letters. Had to be a smart as s sorry!

about 3 weeks ago my 91 firebird got side swiped / rear ended. My insurance company deemed it totaled, and a 50/50 fault, so no body gets anything. Im planning on getting it repaired. Iv got too much love for my firebird, and dont wana give it up. Here are some pics.
