need wheel advice

OK, I know I am new here and this is my first post. But I seriously need some wheel/tire fitment help very badly. I recently purchased an 86 Iroc Z, and I havin to do a little bit of fixin up. I want to do the rims and tires first. OK, heres what I found: I went to www.performancewheeloutlet.com, I am lookin at the ZR1 wheels in silver, maybe a 17x9.5 and 17x11. I know nothin about what size will and wont fit. So I need some help. What backspacing will I need etc. etc. I know this is kind of a broad question, but would appreciate all answers, KRIS

Naw not yet, I just bought it today from a buddy of mine. Its got a 350 turbo and a carbed 350 which it tore up pretty bad. Its in really good shape as far as interior and paint and all. No dents. But it has some ulgy rims on it so I thought I might get rid of those first. I only paid $$350.00 for it so it leaves me a little bit of $$$ to play with. I really need some help on the rims and tires, I dont want to order them and then they not fit. Thanks, KRIS

with the zr1 wheels you are going to need wheel spacers. You can get them from www.skulte.com. Wheels that are on 4th generation camaros and firebirds use different backspacing. Our cars use 5.5 backspacing. If you do a search on the boards you will find a lot of information on the ZR1s. They are a very popular wheel for the thirdgens. I think I am going to break down and get them myself but in silver instead of chrome like I first planned.

I have Centerlines w/ 5.5 backspacing that are 11" wide and they stick out of the fenderwell an inch or too. You probably wanan get more backspacing if you go really wide

Hey, I will be putting some 2000 C5 rims on my 87 IROC this weekend ( will post pics when its done ) . Contact Andris Skulte at http://www.skulte.com , he has back spacers for specific applications ( including the ZR1 wheels I believe). Guy only tunes 3rd gens as well. My backspacers are on the way. ( about 300 bux for 4 ) .
