Just Painting the Hood - How much $$ is too Much?

Hi Everyone,

I've got a nice looking daily-driver with an _Ugly_ Faded Hood.

The Car is White, and I was wondering where and how much I should expect to pay for just the hood, painted to match the rest of the car.

The car has original paint from '88, and is slightly faded but holding nicely everywhere else. I plan to get the car completely re-done in the next 5 yrs, so a decent paint job till then on JUST the HOOD will do.

Also - Base/Clear? I think so, given it's the hood; most of the sun will be beating down on it.

Thanks!

For just a plain white hood needing no body work, just scuffing and priming, not more than a couple hundred at most for a good quality basecoat/clearcoat job. I wouldn't choose anything but bccc, since it is easier to take care of, but the choice is really yours.

I dont know if this is a really good price or not but when I bought my 89 Cutlass Supreme It needed the hood repainted. It was also white and It cost $200 , on mine the paint was totally gone though.

Its also a smaller hood....so take it for what its worth...probobly nothing

My Dad use to work in the old body shops. I would think your looking at around 500 bucks. More or less I guess would depend on the shop that you go to. Save your self some cash and sand it and prime it youself. Then you would be able to just pay them to spray it down. That prep work is easy. I use to do a little bit of preping in a few shops. You could teach a 13 year old how to do it. In fact I was about 15 when I started.
