The new guy

Hello everyone, I'm new and I'll introduce myself. I'm 46, I live in Ohio and I work for Summit Racing Equipment (sorry, no discounts). I've been a GM guy all my life (Chevies and Pontiacs mostly) and I'm looking at a new project vehicle. It's a pretty clean '90 Formula with a 305 and 5 speed. The owner says the T5 has been replaced and he's not sure what year it is or if it's a WC or not. Is there a way to visually ID a World Class from underneath the car ?
This car has had a ton of work done on the suspension system with Edelbrock torque arm, Hotchkiss panhard and trailing arms, Energy Suspension bushings and all the wear parts replaced in the front end.
I'm thinking ahead to when I might want to put a bigger engine in it, maybe an earlier 2 pc. rear main seal 350 I have in the corner. Has anyone ever tried to put a 168 tooth flywheel in the bellhousing of one of these cars ?
The guy's asking $5000 for the car, but it has 121,000 miles on it.
It's what the blue book folks would describe as "good" condition.
But local private party value is around $2700. Unfortunately for him I know how much he paid for all his parts (he works at Summit too ) and they don't add up to enough to make up the difference to the asking price.
What would one of you guys pay for it ? T-tops, no big sound system, clean, good overall condition.
Thanks in advance,
MHF

That doesnt really seem like a that bad of a price. It just depends on how well it was maintained. It has the upgraded suspension which is always a plus. Its all in what you think it is worth.

What do you do at summit? I read your other post. Having connections with aftermarket companies is always helpful.

And also... Welcome to the board!!!

Welcome,

$5k to me sounds extremely high for a 305. Though the condition of the vehicle will play a major role too. You should be able to pick up a decent 350 car for that price.

By the way Summit rocks, can I get a discount j/k.

swapping 2 piece rear 350...

It mounts up perfectly except your gonna have to find an older flywheel from a 4 speed car, and then everything butts on nicely.
