New Paint Question??
My brother just got an '85 SC with a 350 and a new paint job. I'll get pics tomorrow. I know it can't be waxed for like 3months, but can a spray polish be put on it?

I would hold off on any sealer kind of Applactions such as waxes and things like that. Just wash it and dry it. Was is wet sanded then buffed? And if anything 3M makes a product that is called hand glaze. Not a wax, more like a after buffing polisher. Safe for fresh painted cars.
Yeah as bravo said: 3M pad glaze can be bought for light & dark paint. Best used on a damp foam pad with machine buff. Its not a protectant polish just a "GLAZE".
looking forward to the pics

It can be waxed within a week after painting now days. Paint has come a long way from the old days and that is where the 3 months comes in. I do some paint work and help a 30 year veteran and after my car was painted I sanded and buffed 6 times and waxed 3 times all in the same week. 5 years later still has a showrrom finish. New hardners make this possible. As stated don't use a wax with sealer in it, the Mequires Gold Class and id you can find it the Rally wax is best to use on freshly painted cars.

Weird, because I could still smell the new paint on my car for some time... I wetsanded and buffed for about a week then waited a couple months before putting anything on the paint.
True, the total cure process takes about a month unless you have very hot weather. But the surface which is what you want to protect and it is cured within hours of painting if painted correctly. That is why you can wet sand and buff within the same week. The surface has hardened and if wet sanding and buffing does not harm it neither does the wax. A car should never be left unprotected without wax after a buff. This can invite particles deep into the paint thru pores unseen by the human eye after a buff. Hope this helps.
Mark I must admit I'm curious why you want to wait so long before a polish. do you live in a very cold area?. Here is a pic of my 57 Holden(GM)327Chev (sorry it ain't 3rd gen)I sprayed 13 years ago & this pic is 10 months old. "I wetsanded, cut & polished & hand polished all within 4 days" so I reckon you can just go ahead & polish with whatever you like. My firebird was done within a week. I have painted about 12 cars & never waited 3 months, the longest would have been 2 weeks.
Anyway I'm sure it will be OK unless you live in a Icebox.
lookin forward to pics when its done.
