s. coupe to a z28 questions
I got an 85 sport coupe im restoring into a z28. I've been collecting ground effects for it, and I wanted to know if z28's came with ground effects, w/out being an iroc. also, will my berlinetta front clip match the ground effects and z28 refurnishing? Would a z28 decal stripe kit be legit on ground effects? I'm probly gonna paint it a dark metallic blue w/ the metallic blue stripe kit, i nearly have all the body work done, so I kind of gotta know. Any other details I'm missing in making it completely into a z28? Should I pick up a gridded set of rear lights? The more info, the better...
the front clip probably wont work, you need a new bumper cover, since you most likely have those 3 holes/things in between the headlights, besides that, the other ground effects (sides and rear) can just go on, but i think you have to drill your own holes to mount them, if they didnt come stock on yours.

Nobody can really tell you how far to go, its your car and you go with what you like. It all depends on your preferences and budget.
I'll try to answer some of your q's.
All Z28's came with ground effects, reguardless of whether or not they had the IROC package.
Almost everyone will tell you that you have to change the nose, but once in a boneyard I saw a sport coupe that someone had attached gfx without changing the nose. So I guess you can make your current nose work.
The stripes are up to you. I think they would look good.
IMO, gridded lights look better. I put a set on my red SC, look much better.
Z28's have a better suspension than the SC.
I wouldn't try to pass the car off as a Z28. Sure, people who know nothing will be fooled, but people who know the cars will pick out every little thing that prove it's not a Z.

Yeah I wouldn't try to pass it off as a Z28 either. No matter what you do, its still a Sport Coupe with a lot of Z28 parts. What kind of engine do you have in it?
