Going back to what meanv8 said,I too have high standards and probably a lot higher than his,but knifing someone in the back because his paint doesn't match is a bit much.At least the guy is enjoying driving his car.How about buying or borrowing a digital camera and showing us what you've got.Having said that I don't really go for kissing someones *** just because they've got a picture of their car on the net.

I think MeanV8 is just hardcore purist. I know where he is coming from but the guys car looks good. I'm the first to tell you that I'm a purist when it comes to cars. I hate people that modify their cars to the point where they dont look anything like what they originally did. I would like to put fourth gen. seats and console in my car but I'm not going to because I don't think it looks right. And I'd also like to get rid of the platic inside the car. I HATE plastic in any car. It's stupid looking. I will however, change the wimpy-*** 305 for something a big stronger (like a blown 350 or 454).

I give the guy credit for at least TRYING to match the paint and at least trying to make the car look original. Not saying I agree, but the car still looks good anyway. I think instead of saying the car is all hacked up and that this guy is stupid for doing that to his car, you should say, "Hey, nice job on what you did, though it would have been better had you left it stock." At least be nice.

how bout this for a hack job....Its my brother's 1985 Camaro Sport Coupe.

Started out life as a Gunmetal Metalic Grey beater....tore down the car replaced it with red 92 FIREBIRD manual crank doors, black 84 Sport Coupe nose and hood, new aftermarket driver side fendor, white 15" five star wheels, and Z-28 Grid Taillights.

Uh oh....here comes some more HACKING!!!

yanked the 2.8L V6 in favor of a 5.7L Tuned Port Injected V8 from a wrecked 88 IROC-Z...

We replaced the entire engine and drive train from the IROC into the Sport Coupe....oh now she's not a numbers matching all original Camaro anymore!!!

The heart and soul of this camaro is nothing but IROC. We also replaced suspension and interior with IROC too. She's an IROC in sport coupe shell. Talk about HACKING.....

I think of it more as resurrecting! We take an otherwise useless totalled IROC-Z and reincarnate it into a Camaro itching for more performance.

Hacking?? I don't think so.

The Final Product....A 5.7L Tuned Port IROC-Z inspired Sport Coupe.

A far cry from its origins. (oh and he purchased the Sport Coupe for $350.)

if you're refering to the black camaro I just posted it isn't a Berlinetta... Its a base Sport Coupe Camaro. Just to be ****.

I see you paid $500 for your firebird! I have paid that amount for my first car and my most recent firebird. Gotta love that!

What are your plans for your white Firebird?

Yeah, but Base Sport CoupROC just didn't have the right "ring".

That Firebird is about as stock as a 16 year old car can be. Windows
have never even been tinted. Plans are to refresh it back to as
stock as possible, as clean as possible, then show off that 200,000
mile odometer reading at shows and just for fun. I have a 4x4
Toyota, a Honda Civic SI, and a Taurus company car, so this is kinda
the fun/play car.

We should keep all of our cars original. Especially those sweet LG4s and 2.8 6 cyl that just tear up the road. Please.... I guess I should have just left my '89 wrecked because I was going to put an '87 nose and fenders on it. I am the worst person in the world too becasue my engine won't fit under the hood so I had to modify that too. I'm sorry for bringing the rest of your cars down in value. I'm going home tonight to get rid of all of my 'terrible' non factory mods. I feel so ashamed

I also agree that any F'er who can afford a 17,000 mile or whatever the hell it is TTA, mod it(yeah right, doesn't even know it's a 6) and can not afford a scanner or camera is a tool. He just has some **** rectal inversion going on.

I agree. He has an 89 TTA with 17k If that was the case he prob would have a different user name. Not to mention the fact that if I had a TTA.....I would post what production number.
There is so many message boards that cover that TTA. If he lies about the number, it would be easy to find out. What a TROLL!!!!!!

Scauffiel,

If I were to take a guess on which car you like best I would have to say it is the Puerto Rican looking one with the big hood scoops. Am I suppose to be impressed.

I have seen a few people complain that I have 12 posts so I don't know anything. So, just because I am working hard during the day to make a lot of money to live the lifestyle I live that means I know nothing? So, for all you guys that buy your $500 pieces of junk and spend hours to fix them up to look like $1000 pieces of junk, who are unemployed and can spend all day on your computers I should model my life after you guys right? So, the most intelligent person on this website must be the one with the most posts right? Please. What a joke. I actually regret saying what i did to SLZ. Not because his car isn't hacked, but because he is the only one that had anything intelligent to say on this thread.

As far as my name. What, because I picked Mean V8 means I don't know my TTA has a V6? Are we supposed to name ourselves after our cars? I have other cars with V8's so I chose MeanV8. Big deal! If so, I saw plenty of you guys on here that showed pics that weren't accurate picking a name.

For those who question why I don't have a pic of my car on here. Yes, I can afford a digital camera. I just don't have a need for one. I don't spend my money so I can take pics of my cars to try and show them off on the internet to a bunch of people I don't know. My cars are for my enjoyment. I don't have the need to go on an ego trip and show them off all over the place. I don't have a DVD player either, does that mean I don't really watch movies? Take your pathetic arguements and go impress you white trash girlfriends!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHahahahahahahaha hahahahahah ahahahahah ahahaha aha ahaha ha ha ha... Oooh, gotta wipe that tear from my eye...:sillylol:

You're a funny little boy! I like you!

Actually, you give yourself too much credit, as all egomaniacs are wont to do. I don't give a flying crap what you think, nor do I give a flying crap what you drive. You are a pathetic, intolerant, excuse making little boy who resorts to fifth grade name-calling when you're called out.

Oh, but have a nice day at your "hard working lifestyle living" job. I'm gonna climb into my wife beater t-shirt, down a couple of brews, and go shoot something while waving my combo NASCAR and Rebel flag.

You're such a tool I'm still chuckling.

How creative. You can take a picture and make up a quote to go under it. How impressive.

If you read my last thread again you will see that I didn't call anyone a name. Where is this "fifth grade" name calling coming from. The only thing derogatory thing I said was go try and impress your white trash girlfriend. If your girlfriend isn't white trash you have nothing to worry about.

If you don't care what I think why are you so bothered by it. Why do you feel I am intolerant if you could care less? You are fooling noone. If it bothers you that I think your car looks Puerto Rican then maybe you shouldn't have made it look Puerto Rican. How was I called out? People questioned the logic behind my name and whether I had the car I say I have just because I didn't post a pic. I explained it all.

When I sigined up for this site I didn't see anywhere were it was a requirement to post a pic of your car to prove you have one. As far as name calling. You claim that is what I do but read your last post and see how many names you used. You say I am an egomaniac but your the one that needs to post pics of your car to show off and prove your MANHOOD. I don't have an ego. If I did I would be posting pics of all my cars to show off. I simply had an opinion on SLZ's car and you don't like it. Too bad! You gonna go cry to mommy now too. It was his car and he handled the comment better than everyone else on this thread.

If people want to lock the thread then lock the thread. All I did was give an opinion and people didn't like it so they attack me and cal me names and now want to lock the thread. I wasn't aware that in order to post it always had to be good. Bad things do happen in this world, we can't lock the world. Do what you gotta do but as long as people keep responding there must be interest out there.

Welp, I said my part on this topic a while ago, so no need to harp on that. I was just poking fun about the thread lock, the way this topic is going is walking that fine line where they tend to get locked. I was not implying that was what I wanted, rather just what I was figuring on.

Ease up Mean V8, maybe it's time to switch to decaf.

What bragging. All I did was say I had a TTA with 17,000 miles with some mods and my car was fast. Anyone ever drive a TTA, they are fast, even stock. That is not bragging. If someone owns a GN and they say it is fast are they bragging too? If someone owns a Honda Civic and they say it is slow is that bragging? I didn't go into detail about the mods, I didn't tell stories about the car. People asked what I had and I told them. That is bragging? If so, there is a whole lot of bragging going on on this website. All I see is a bunch of weak arguements.

LottaBalls: You may not want to be putting that Gay Alarm message in your responses with a name like LottaBalls! What exactly is this Gay Alarm? Is that something that goes off in your pants when you see a guy your attracted to?

It is only bragging to those of you who haven't driven a TTA. If you have driven a TTA you know how fast they are. Just stating the facts. Did it sound arrogant, yeah, I'll give you that one.

I have read this post and clearly MeanV8 has issues but I figured I would shed a little light and add some humor to this thread. This is in no way a support to MeanV8 though. I will also defend SLZ.

I am friends with SLZ. I drove his car before and after his modifications were done. It made a huge difference. The car runs real strong now. The increased air flow made such a big improvement. His car does look real though. The picture he put on here does not do the car justice. The nose is a different shade than the rest of the car but you can't tell as much in person.

As far as the humor. SLZ HAS used pieces from Home Depot in a previous car he owned. Nothing for the car he shows here but it was a previous TA he owned. In fact he was trying to do a similar modification to that car.

Reasons why I don't like this guy

1. This is a site to help people with their cars. Why log on if you're just going to get all defensive and rag on people. Please bring something useful to the table.

2. You sound like more dollars than sense.

3. Too many contradictions. My car is fast, but I don't brag. I'm tolerant, but I hate your car. I'm too good to post on the internet and don't care about your opinions, but I can't shut up on this post. etc.

4. If you don't need to prove your manhood why are you measuring against everyone.

Here's some free advise. Take all of your hard earned money and hire a therapist, because you definately have issues.

ATOMonkey,

Considering you name yourself after a monkey it explains why you make no sense in your post.

1. Sometimes negative comments are helpful too you know. Where do you live that everyone around you only has positive things to say. Who is really defensive here. I just voiced an opinion. SLZ, the one the opinion was directed toward, handled it like a man. Everyone else on here got defensive. Everyone else here started the attack. They got defensive over someone else's car, someone else they don't even know.

2. Contradictions: My car is fast, I don't brag. Have you driven a TTA? Have you driven a GN? They are fast cars. By stating the FACT that the cars are fast means I am bragging? I tired explaining this before but I will use a GM product so you can understand better. If I own a Chevette (not Chevelle, don't get them confused) and I say my car is slow, am I bragging then? I'm tolerant, but I hate your car. When did I ever say I was tolerant? If you go back and read carefully you will see that someone else called me INTOLERANT!

3. I said I don't need to POST PICS to prove my manhood on this board with a bunch of people I don't know. I never said I don't need to prove my manhood. ANY GUY who is into cars is bascially trying to prove his manhood. Any guy who spends hours trying to make his car look good or run faster than the guy next to him at a red light is trying to prove his manhood.

I don't really need your free advice. Do I need a therapist, probably. But, seeing how I am married to a therapist, I have learned one thing, everyone needs a therapist. Everyone has issues. Some people don't think they have issues so they say they don't need a therapist. Everyone could learn to communicate better or express their feelings better.

You don't know me from Adam. Until you take the time to really get to know me keep your personal feelings to yourself. You want to comment on my car that is great. I didn't attack SLZ's personality, I made a comment on his car. I said he was a hacker. Doesn't mean he lives the rest of his life that way.

Guys,

I really hate to admit this but MeanV8 makes some sense. Now, I don't agree with the way he presents his arguments but I agree with some points he is trying to make. Everyone is on here complaining about him being defensive and stuff. But if you read back he really isn't calling people names or anything. There are people calling him gay and stuff though.

ATO Monkey's post didn't make much sense to me either. He was arguing things that never happened. I am still not a fan of MeanV8 but if SLZ, who is a friend of mine, not just a car friend, I was in his wedding in April, doesn't get defensive about his comments why is everyone else. He is only one guy, why is everyone letting him bother them. Just ignore him. Just face it, there are mean people out there. he just happens to be one of those people. He thinks he is better than everyone else and all your comments will do is feed into him. If you all ignore him he will go away. He doesn't care if he is ruining our hobby for us. Some of us like trying different things but because he doesn't think we should he finds fault with us. Maybe I think he is wrong for modifying his low mile TTA but it is his car so I chose not to say anything. He choses to voice his negativity. Let's just move on. By the way, the car in question isn't even his anymore. Now that he is married it really belongs to his wife, right? Just a little joke for all us married guys.

heh heh...I just got married on July 6th. My wife doesn't want to have anything to do with my two firebirds. She does know how much they mean to me and so she understands my addiction.

Bill,

I had an 87 GN. I am still waiting for my next car to come. My wife HATED the GN. Whenever I talk about getting another one she always says why do you want to get another one of those. Yet, she still found a way to claim it in her own way. Congrats on the new marriage and I hope all is well but as time goes on your wife will try to take over. It is just the way marriage is. Guys go in with a lot of possesions and end up with nothing of their own. I recently bought a house. I am allowed to decorate however I want, as long as it is my bureau. Just kidding. I love being married. I just like to joke about it.

I was actually teasing SLZ. He has 4 cars. Before he got married his wife told him the Formula, the one in question, was her car. He was like, WHAT? He has had that car since before he even met her. It was just kinda funny.

P.S.- don't hate me cuz I like GN's. My next car will either be a GN or a TTA. I just want the turbo motor.

Hey, SLZ, I really like the car man... Quite understandable that you can't find a '91 Firebird with a 350 and T-Tops. I was looking for a '91-'92 GTA with a 350 and T-Tops, but had to settle for a 350/hardtop. Hey, let us know when you get that tech article done. I'm really looking forward to reading it as I also want the dual CAI setup for my car, but don't want to relocate the battery to the rear.

As for the arguments, I also have to agree that Mean V8 has the right to voice his own opinions. Sometimes criticism is good so you can see what you have to do to improve your car. I will say however that Mean V8 could've done a better job in voicing his opinions in a more mature and adult way. I know he won't agree with me, but sometimes, people who are so full of themselves will not even see the error of their ways.

trust me...I don't think my wife will ever want to possess my firebirds. Heck I know for a fact she wont.... She is a F*RD truck lover. :0) She specifically wants the Bigfoot monster truck. I told her when I strike it rich I'll get her one.

Im also wanting a GN now. I have seen several in my hometown and I think they look pretty sweet. I don't think TTA's are too easily accessable. It would probably be easier to get my paws on a GN. Do you think so?

Mean V-8:
No you did not call names per say, so I will give you credit there. But calling a car a hack job when the paint is just a bit off is too harsh. I can see you having problems with parts mixing if you have a TTA...that car is worth something. I would never mod it in such a way to destroy its value, but it is a rare car that is still worth something: Unlike the average 3rd gen.

I have heard myself how hard it is to get a 350 with t-tops, regardless of the year. I do remember seeing them in brochures in 89, but in good condition, you can't find them now. I just someone at GM realized T-top cars didn't hold up that well with all that torque. You hear it time and time again with leaky T-tops and cracks forming.

As far as a hack job...Heck GM & the dealers hacked them up all by themselves. They had dealer convertibles, sunroofs, gfx kits... Personally, I have an odd combo of interior parts. I have the deluxe interior package (seats and styling) with power nothing. I have door panels that only came in GTAs, but they had a map pocket that I don't. Probably because I had manual windows. My car is a V-6 T-top car.

A buddy has a 1987 305 T/A with t-tops and here is the odd part. He has the same interior style as me. He has power windows, but manuel door locks. GM was great about getting odd options. Dealers would cut all kind of weird things just to say they had a cheaper V-8 than the other guy.

Just about any 3rd gen running around know has a conglomeration of parts from other 3rd gens. Thanks to GM disco-ing all the parts. You have to go to a junkyard or get reprod crap. I would rather have GM original than a repro that does not fit right. So there are mostly hack jobs out there now.

Now if it was a car that was misbadged or that he was trying to say was other than it was I could see the problem. Most decent paint jobs cost more than the cars are worth. I wanted to repaint my car a few years back and had 5 different body shops refuse because they felt it was unworthy of a new paint job. Not because the car was not nice enough, but because a car that age was not worth it in their opinion. They all said it was the nicest Firebird they had seen around, esp to be mostly original.

So, I got disgusted with everyones' attitudes and started to mod it my own way. All I heard is nothing is available, or the car is not worth the trouble, so I did it myself. Not easy for a girl to do, but I did it. And you can ask those who have seen it in person, its not a hack job. It looks like it was done by a pro. Because I wanted a car that would stand out at shows, I mixed some of my own parts, & I'm proud of it: 92 Z28 side gfx, 84 TA frt and rear gfx, spoilers from 84 firebirds, a spoiler from a later model RS Camaro, a SunCoast Ram air hood, aftermarket rims, & Firebird emblems from a 2nd gen.

And because this car is a 2.8 and hardly anything is made for it by the aftermarket community, I'm guilty of fabricating. Home Depot rocks! I have had to fabricate more mods than I have bought. Sadly for 3rd gens...Its a 2.8 car that will normally never be worth the sum of its parts. Oddly with my mods...It makes my car an original and worth more than it would ever be worth stock.

SLZ: I like what you have done. I think it looks clean and well executed. I painted my own bay black to offset my red accents. It really makes the engine stand out. Its that old muscle car look. Plus its easier to match the paint if you get a chip.

Bill,

I think you can get a TTA if you really want it. A friend of mine just bought one. The market isn't that great for them right now in that they are selling cheaper than normal. He had his pick of a few.

I prefer the GN personally. I am only considering the TTA because he tells me if it superior to the GN. It is faster, obviously it handles better and it brakes better. He likes the ride better too. He hasn't taken me for a ride yet so I can't really say either way. The GN is so much better looking in my opinion. It stands out. You can spot one from a mile away. No, they don't handle great, the braking systems aren't the best and they are plenty fast enough for me. Other benefits are parts. Some parts for TTA's can be hard to find. If you get a comparable car as far as condition and miles the GN will be a couple thousand cheaper on average. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I would like to thank the people for at least recognizing I have a right to voice my opinion. See my biggest problem is that I say what I feel. I don't think first. That is why things come out so offensive most times. I still feel SLZ hacked his car. If you are looking for a 91/92 car then buy that, don't waste the money on an 89 if you don't like the 89. From other posts I have seen from SLZ and what his friend fbodyking said, he has 4 cars. He clearly isn't hurting for money and wasn't in desparate need of a car for transportation. Why put pieces of other cars on your car. I am sorry if people don't like my opinion. I am sure if I did a search for a 91/92 GTA 350 with roofs I will find some.

Is MeanV8 another ONE-EYED-JACK? If anyone remembered this guy from last year, he was very opinionated on other cars. Sounds if this guys' first car is a TTA and what he has heard of this car made his head swell. There are plenty of F-bodys on this board that will dust that TTA. We have what we have..... we do the best of what we have.
