my 406 in a convertabke
i wasnt sure where to post...
ok.. well i have always wanted a conv. iroc. and since i just found out my loan for the bike was approved, so i will have some extra cash. im thinking about gettign a 90 iroc conv, and swapping everything from the 86 to the 90 and then sell the 86 with the 90 stuff in it. I know i will need some new sub frame conectors if i decide to do so. im just curious *and want opinions* if i should do so.

That would be sweet, but i think you'd have to do more than just SFC's to the vert to make it hold the 406. I have an 88 vert, yet to buy SFC's for it but I can't imagine even the Spohn tubular SFC's to hold that kind of power. you'd prob need to upgrade your LCA's, panhard bars, sway bars, thats all i can think of for the moment. The chassis on these verts are really weak IMO so ultimately if you're going for huge amounts of power your only real option would be a roll cage. The verts were made for cruising, i say keep your 86 to tool around with and get a 90 vert for those nice sunday drives

Thats a lotta horsepower to be putting in a 'vert. Might want to look at some sorta "X" brace too, Subframe Connectors will help with flex but not twisting with that much Torque! Also look into a rollbar of some sort, 2 or 4 pt. maybe!?

well al the suspention i have in my 86 would go into the vert *if it match up ok* ie shocks, springs, LCA.. hell everything. even the rear end... but again.. im jsut wondering if it can hold this much hp. plus the 200-300 direct port nitrous kit i plan on adding..

I would go to say, NO... not without a whole lotta work done to the 'vert, but it wouldn't be worth it in my opinion! I agree with nikh23, leave it in the 86 and just build a mild cruiser with the 'vert.
It would require a 6 point cage to hold that kind of power in a vert. Sub frame connectors on a vert is a start but not enough to support any more than 300hp (IMHO).
STB is also a must in a vert once again IMHO.
