Scale of 1-100

On a scale of 1-100 what would you rate your own car?
1 being total junk and 100 being perfect.

My car is about a 72 in my opinion. Still needs some work inside and out.

How do you rate?
Be honest.

This is covering everything from tip to tail. I mean everything.
Engine/Drivetrain Body Interior Exterior etc....

Let's keep the bashing to a minimum too! Just give your opinion on your own vehicle. Points of view are different for everyone. Let's have fun with this and see what you think of your car.

I'm going to go with a 75 - 80 for my Baby.

Exterior is near perfect and the interior is being worked on currently.

It runs and drives very well, also. (as it should with all the brand new parts)

I would say 70 10 off for the paint, 10 off because its still a 305 and doesnt have 400HP yet and 10 of because I need to repair a fender. The interior is perfect though. I think I'll go the the junk yard Friday and just try and find one that is the same color.

I'd give mine about an 80. Engine runs like a dream, paint is great except I gotta repaint the nose next spring and get a louver, and the interior only needs a new headliner cause mine is sagging a little. Once thats all done, I'll be very happy.

In the garage, covered in dust, up on stands, with half the interior in place, where it's been for about a year...probably a 27.

If anybody knows of any 91-92 Z28s with 350s that would rate from 85-95 in the southeastern US...call me.

low miles
very strong engine, tranny, and rear end..
great interior
exterior some dings, paint is kinda shiny has some chips, swrils, etc..
rims are dirty, i am working on that..
engine bay was kinda cleaned up, alittle better than that pic i have.
everything works on the car, like the power options, etc...

i would rate my car about 70 to 75... i think thats fair, also considering mine is a daily driver..

75 overall.

Good repaint job on it....near excellent interior save the carpet...(fading).

I give the motor a 30. Its a good gas saving engine but just too puny for the car. Its been running a little edgy lately.

All in all Im very pleased with it.

well considering i bought it at a rating of oh 25 i think i have upgraded to at least 85% although now the paint is all messed up cuz of my crash and i dont have any tailights or wing or interior door skins on it, oh and lets not forget no side skirts..hmm i guess its at a 50 now..but when its done for next year itll be pretty much perfect..taking 10 off for my ugly motor compartment which should be perfect by next year too..

Hm, well, high mileage, but still running strong, 305, but 91 305 TPI (can't get much better of a 305 than that), nice bright red color but dinged up and rust starting, missing lock cylinder on pass. side, interior is decent though somewhat disassembled. I dunno, I suppose 50 to 60 for now. That's why she's a project car.

well i have brand new paint and the rest of the car is fantastic except for a rip in the drivers seat and sagging sun visors.... i give it a 85-90

MDformula-how did you manage to get a car with L98 and t-tops, i was under the impression that you couldnt get t-tops with the 350.

Im pretty sure the formulas came off the line like that in 91. But the T/As and GTAs didn't.

Low miles

Almost 100% mint condition exterior, more like 92%, stupid wing has the typical crack on the under side where it connects to the trunk.

Almost 100% mint condition interior, more like 95%, little tear on bottom right side of drivers seat. Cant see it anyways, seatbelt in the way

Engine bay is like 95%, no joke, its clean as hell.

Overall id give it a 90-95%

I'll give mine a 79.

Once I get that fender fixed/or new one. I'd give it 85 then.

right time, right place i guess!!!

a girl hit me and wrecked my 1988 formula 350 so i had to look for new car... i had a bunch of money to spend so i was going to buy a nice low mileage thirdgen. i searched and searched but nothing in the newspaper.. so i use the good old interent, hopped onto www.cars.com and low and behold i found an add that said 1991 firebird, v8 low miles and thats basically it.. i called the person up and a women owned it but her boyfriend drove it.. she did not know much about it, i asked was it still for sale and they said they had like 5 people coming to see it. i told them a story about my past thirdgens and the luck i have had, and they setup an appointment before the 5 other people to come and look at it..

i get there about a 45 minute trip and goto look at it with my grandfather the family mechanic.. i never really knew that much about the 91 - 92 birds, so i look at the car and the guy said here it is... i noticed a different nose compared to my 1988 i said that looks cool. anyway he pops the hood, and i check it out for any past accident damage... blah blah blah...

i really just bought the car because of the low miles... but when i started looking up vin numbers and stuff i noticed it was a pretty rare car... i knew it was a 350 because of the 8 vin number being 8 and the hood said 5.7 on the side.. any when i took the test drive i could tell it was the mighty 350 tpi.

anyway during the test drive it rode great, he told me the whole story about how he beats alot of people around where he lives racing it, he also told me he/his girl where the second owners..

anyway way off topic, i bought the car a couple days after i looked at it/ tested it, they held it for me ( i had to give them a down paymeny on it)..

ever since my first car with t-tops (1988 iroc-z 5.7) i wanted t-tops again and since my other firebird did not have them, i bought this car..

now being its a 1991 firebird formula 350 with t-tops and the gta rims option made the deal even sweeter... i could not pass it up..

any body think i should rate my car higer/lowerr?? i think i gave a fair number to myself..

I give mine a 90. Great inside and out. Idles and Runs perfect (With old plugs/wires/dist) and has alot of power. I Just got a "wee' little starting problem. If its cold outside = car starts great. If its hot outside, car takes two times to start and chugs a little for 10 seconds, unless I hit the gas.

Enging is low on miles, 58k
Runs really good. (For the moment)

Your car, by pictures and what not looks alot better than mine . I think you could go w/ an 80 / 85 People say my car looks perfect, but they are idiots, only the owners know whats really wrong w/ them. I'd rate mine a 60 I built the 355 myself did all the engine work (boring, honing) Its got awesome interior. Its got a problem w/ every panel on the car. ok enough. Yea 60/65 I'm to hard on myself.

Ick. Let's see.... starting from a 50 to be fair.

-10 for being a 2.8
-5 for not knowing for sure what year engine it is (not original, that much is certain)
-10 for the insane vibration that we haven't found a cause for yet
+10 for working power locks/windows
+10 for decent sound system
-5 for lack of subs
+20 for very very nice interior
-3 for dark carmine interior color
-2 for one cigarette burn on driver's seat
+5 for the a/c duct ram air setup (hey, the plans were on the site and i was bored...)
+5 for tires with about 4k miles on them
-5 for tires being stock size
-5 for being a hardtop SC
-5 for needing paint
-5 for little dents all along both sides (previous owner was an idiot)
-5 for moderate crunch of driver's side fender...
+5 for having a spare driver's side fender in the garage from our old camaro that i'll be putting on in a few weeks
+5 for A/C that blows cold in the middle of an AZ summer :lala:
-5 for the exhaust being modified by the previous owner and looking like they just took random pieces of pipe and welded them together
+5 for the exhaust looking pretty good from anywhere but directly below

Quick math... I guess that puts me at an even 50.

I'm gonna say about 55. Engine runs good, but little puff of smoke when start it every now and then and it's a 305 TPI, not nearly fast enough. Needs new paint on hood and rear hatch (kinda oxidated and clear is coming off) and front bumper and pass fender need replacing (bumper needs replaced and painted and fender just needs straightening) so basically whole car needs paint. Needs new susp, new brakes, front tires are goin bald on the outer edge. interior needs new headliner, weatherstripping for the entire car, carpet isn't bad but could use replacement, same with seats, needs new steering wheel is melting on top.

But have a 350 TPI in waiting. Have almost all suspension bought but not on car yet. So it's starting to come together slowly. Biggest hassel IMO will be the engine swap, which is why i'm hesitant on keepin the car. I'm just afraid it won't work or i'm gonna be dissappointed with it. It's gonna take so much work and $ that I really don't have since my truck is only getting like oh.... 10 ****ing miles to the gallon for some reason! Kinda spending all my $ on it instead of my car.

I'd give mine a 50.
Engine and tranny works perfect (both rebuilt, but a 305 and auto)
Interior is almost perfect (rip in driver seat, steering wheel wornout)
Paint is horrible (Repainting it after winter)
Some rust (fixing it along with the paint)
Wheels look like ****, centercaps have rusty holes, and previous owner painted them poorly, clearcaot peeling (polishing in the winter)
Needs new suspension (Replacing it after winter too)

After the winter it should be an 70 or 75, and after I get everything I get done to it I want to do, it'll be a 200

mine has got to be a 40. the engine is new and bad ***, tranny is just an auto but it has a lil stall in it (2400) and the rear end is ok(3.73 posi) - not a 9 inch though. the interior is perfect except for the stolen CD player ( ). its the body that sucks - the previous owner rear ended somebody and didnt have it repaired properly ( ).

Well, considering I went from this...

to this...

I'll give it a 55.
Minor exterior stuff left to do like the trim around the hatch glass, door handles, shaving the antenna, polishing out the tail lights, new rims needed. Interior wise, I need new carpet, dashpad, headliner, plastic trim bits on the t-tops, re-dye the plastic in other areas, redo door pannels due to fading, make blockoff plate for where the radio was. Mechanicly, motor runs great for what it is, TH400 tranny is going in tomorrow (again), engine compartment is about 40% done in cleaning it up, need to replace power steering box due to leak, replace pinion seal on rear end due to leak.

Personaly, I think this car has come a looooooooong way from the first day of picking it up with all kinds of junk inside, a near dead motor, failing transmission, toasted paint, dents/dings and ripped ground fx in front, ripped up/sun rotted seats, and a stock cluttered up engine compartment. I've got lots of plans for this car, just hope it all can be done

I'd say mine is about a 90

it looks great...
it runs well enough (well, as well as the 3.1 V6s go)

but I still have some stuff to do before it's a 100:

Spohn SFCs
New (Dual Outlet) Catback Exhaust
4thgen Grey Leather seats
a pair of new kicker comp c10 woofers
install my new shift ****.

and eventually, i'll add some power with a complete 3.8L Turbo Buick V6 Engine&Tranny swap....

To be fair I would have to say about a 55. Daily driver, high miles, and needs some body work.

I would give mine a 25. Lots of work needs to be done, and I haven't decided yet if I want to do it or get that 72 nova I always wanted.

I would personally rate mine at about a 3, but thats because no matter what i do to the thing it's never good enough, i always want more, and it will never be perfect. When i sit back and look at the whole picture, i know I've got a slammin *** car, but i only see what it isn't, and what it could, and will be...

Eric

btw, i love my car to death...

I'd give my 72 a 60. 20 off because its in the body shop all stripped down. 5 percent off for the torn seat in the interior, and 15% off because I don't have my 455 built yet!!

My 68 I would give a 55. 50 for the body being 95% rust free. And another 5 for having the main interior parts (seats, dash, steering wheel). I would take off 25 for not being painted and 20 for missing the engine and tranny.

I'd give myself an 85, excellent condition throughout, but needs some detail work to be a show car.
