hello every one

i am a new member and i'd like to say hello to everyone. first, let me say that i am here to obtain info and learn technical things about my car as well as offer whatever info i may have. second, i know that i will be the subject if ridcule because i am the the self proclaimed bling bling king of the board; all i ride is twenties. (with the exception of my daily driver) i have a 91 camaro convertible on dubs and a 95 s10 with dubs. i'll post pics later, but for now i just wanted to introduce myself.

btw, what the hell are these things?:lala: :lala: :lala: :lala: :lala:

You mean you have different rims on the same car at the same time? Odd.

But welcome to the boards

I like big rims on trucks/minis.

Dunno about mismatching them though.

That's a nice looking Camaro..got any recent pics?

Hey,

There is nothing wrong with 20's on a car, but on a thirdgen they are bit large. I mean 18's look large on thirdgens. 20's look great on trucks and big cars like old impalas and any muscle car IMO.

hey guys, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. i work third shift so that's when i am on the computer. my camaro, even though you can't tell by the pic, was purchased as a total/rebuildable. it's in the shop being repainted and having a driver's side quarter put in it. (that's why i only have pass side pics ) as soon as i pick it up and put the wheels back on it, i willl show you guys what it looks like. i will find images of the wheels i have for it and post them also.......

btw, if you wondering why i put wheels on a wrecked car, it was for test fittment.....

What's with the different wheels on both sides? This sounds like the beginning of yet another trend that I just can't understand.

Most of the time you only see 1 side of a car at any given time and thus you only see rims on one side of the car. By having different wheels on each side, you give the allusion that you have a different set of wheels each time you go somewhere. Some poeple can't decide between two rims so they get 2 of each. I don't like this trend either. There's going to be some balancing problems involved.

wellllllllllll, i said that some of you wouldn't like it, and of course, that's your opinion. balancing problems? never had any. (i used to work for wheelworkz.com) look at it this way, anything that you aren't used to will always make you feel uncomfotable because it's unchartered waters. what i did was break from the mold of being like everyone else. but the most important factor is that when i walk into my garage that i am satisfied with what i see; the same as each of you when you see your own vehicle. with that being said, i think i deserve something a little better than being descibed as "f@#king stupid." i'm not looking for any apologies, but i am just voicing that i don't appreciate negative comments aimed at me. (but then again, you're probably going to tell me to go f@#k myself) well, i'll holla at you guys later. i have to go back to work now

btw: you aren't into bling-bling if you say these:

"i only like that factory look.":lala:
"no thanks, 16's are big enough for me.":lala:
"if i can't buy my tires at wal-mart, i don't want'em":lala:
"there is no better rim than a cragar ss." :lala:

That car looks great!!!!!!

Are those TTII's?

The reason I ask is..... have you seen the new Cragars?

They're pricy though. You can get them up to 18"x9" but it'll cost you ~$380 per wheel. The 17"x9" is cheaper at ~$315 and a 17"x8" is ~$305. I guess it'd be better to get the 9" wheels for $10 more.

But, like I said, that's a good looking car.

AJ

There's a fine line between being different with unchartered waters and doing something that is just plain dumb.

Dont let them get to you dgravois. If you want to do something, then go for it. Who cares what everyone else thinks. Everyone who has come to this board and dosn't follow the 'norm' as far as appearance mods gets ragged on. Its just how it is here. I know my friends and I have been ragged on alot for wanting to do mods that reflect GT styling (same style the ricers go for). Who cares what they think.

It's the same in the real world as it is here. People are goin to say the same thing about having diff wheels on the car. Who knows it may become popular one day.

And so may wearing 2 different shoes, but I'll stick to one kind of shoe thank you.

welcome to the boards! I like the rims that you are going to put on passenger side; not to fond of the other ones. I would like to see pics of the car once you get 20's on it. I am curious if the car will sit high off of the ground w/ 20's no matter how much you lower it b/c diameter of tire/rim.

Ah, but the difference is that in real life people dont walk up to your car and tell you it looks like crap. Sure they might 'think' it, but they wont say it. In person, people have more respect for eachother because you're face to face. Its really easy to talk bad about something on a messageboard. All you see is a computer screen. You have less feelings for the people on the other end reading. In fact, most of the time, people dont think twice about speaking their mind ... even if they haven't thought about how to say it tactfully.

That's a good point, but at least on the messageboard you get the truth rather than people lying/keeping things in. Maybe you think it's cool , but everyone else thinks it dumb. At least on here, they can get the truth, if that doesn't bother them still, good for them.

I think you mean the 'truth about what people THINK'. There is no 'truth' to anything related to someone's personal opinion on style. You can say something about his car, heck 20 people can say the same thing and it still won't mean jack unless he's doing everything to try impress YOU. Just because some people dont like something dosnt mean its the 'truth.' What is this, the Appearance Police? Oh hello I am a 3rd gen f-body appearance detective. You are only allowed to do this and that and if you do that then you're a looser. And thats the truth. No its not like that. The beautiful part about appearance mods is that nothing is set in stone. Whoever owns the car can do whatever they want, and as long as they like it, thats all that matters. Its not like other parts of the car (engine/tranny/suspension) where there are setups and theory's that have been proven to work, and straying from the norm will cause bad things to happen. Appearance is totally up to the owner. Sure you can give your opinion, you can even be a ***** about it if you want (like most people on this board), but its not like you're making the rules on what should and shouldn't be done. Just take a step back and think about how the styles and appearance of cars change over time. Most of the new ideas/styles are found at custom car/truck shows where people do original and custom mods. If nobody ever did anything new then we would all have a car that looks exactly the same. No, styles change over time and the custom crowd drives the changes ... It started back with the hotrod guys and has evolved (weirdly enough) to the import scene. Don't believe me? Go find some pics of cutom car shows from 1-4 years ago and then look at all the new cars being released. You'd be supprised where car manufacturers get their styling ideas and concepts.

It's a good thing I'm not rich and could have money to blow.

I'd buy a nice car, then put 5-10 wings on it, 4 different wheels on it. 4 big mufflers. Put about 30 stickers on it, then go revving my car at every person in sight. Then I'd be cool.

Wow pretty insane. I would laugh at it, but if you wanted it to look that way then congrats! hahahah. I think to complete the image you could install some 18 wheeler semi side mount exhaust and put the 4 fart cans under the front spoiler. When ppl ask wtf tell them those are the 'rice cannons'.

Gee, how big of a hypocrite are you.

You'd laugh at me, but yet when I laugh others on this board, you get mad at me.

Okay gentlemen, I'm the real f-body detective on this board. Everyone MUST give each other a big group hug and stop pushing their insecurities on everyone else. Otherwise, you can't play on my board anymore!

Mark, I really didn't know what dubs were. I was just busting his ***** with the bling bling thing. lol

Nah man there is nothing wrong with not liking something. Like you always said, it just an opinion. And everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But it does gets irritating when people force their opinions on others seemingly just to put them down ... and even worse it happens sometimes when someone is not even asking for their opinion. You can laugh all you want. But posting something like 'OMG THAT SO GAY I CANT BELIEVE YOU DID THAT' is alot different than saying 'Not my thing' or better yet just not posting at all. Not saying you do that, but it has happened ALOT in the past. I've always had no problem voicing my opinion on other peoples mods, but if the only thing I can say is negative then usually I wont post at all. I mean damn if people really wanted opinions on what you think about their car they would make a poll or something. It always turns out that someone is talking about something else (in this case 'Hello I'm new here) but it suddenly turns into a flaming fest about what people think about his mods. You see what I'm getting at? Oh and BTW, I hardly ever get mad at a messageboard. I get really irrirtated sometimes but usually I'm laughing trying to make a funny.
