Hatchback Question

I have a big crack in the glass of my hatchback. I found a place where I can get another one for under $100. Is there anything special that I should know about changing my hatchback? Does it have to be tightened down a precise amount or do you just get it as tight as you can? I'm sure taking it off will be easier than installing the new one. Are there any tricks for getting the new one back on?

Thanks,

Steve

It does have to be aligned. I believe the bolts at the top allow you to do so, but I'm not certain.

IIRC, mine had hard plastic spacers to keep you from tightening it too far, and to distribute the pressure. But no, don't tighten them as much as you can, just enough so the glass won't move. And you should be able to do better than $100, seeing as all the thirdgens are hit in the front, hatches are plentiful. If I needed one I could get it for $30, 35......

YEah I played around with mine cause it was off center but dont tighten it down to tight. Not hard at all. This would be bad. And hey you should of asked me before I had a spare hatch from a car that I just junked. I picked what I needed and junked the rest. I would have given it to ya for free. Well shipping that thing might just cost 100 bucks by itself. So where did you get the new hatch? Junkyard?

Thanks for the help guys. I managed to get it on. I just need to take some time to line it up a little better.

I got it at a junkyard and the guy was a jerk. I hate junkyards!!! That was the last big thing I needed to restore my car so from now on I think I will order the smaller stuff online. I needed a hood but I raced a guy that had the hood I wanted and won it off him.

Hate junkyardz? Thats not right.... I love the boneyardz. All the dead carz. Well someone would have a right to be an azz to me there cause I use to break alot of windows. Though it was funny. Well I dont do that anymore. Well if there was a steaming pile of rice there I might think about it but dont tempt me like that!
