I agree with CrazyHawaiian, it is definitely a judgement call as far as the preference. But coming from someone who went from a third gen to a fourth gen, EVERY car has a highlight and downside.

After driving my 96 WS6 Formula for 3 years daily, i HATED that car and couldnt wait to get rid of it...

1) power window motors suck in 4th gens due to the over large windows and small motors ( i went through 3 passenger and 2 drivers side motors in 3 years!)

2) Headlight motors on the 'birds suck (went through 2 passenger and 2 drivers in 3 years)

3) OBD II cars are pains in the *** when it comes to mods

4) Went through 4 opti sparks because of that damn "no water" issue (get em wet, they no work)

5) interrior rattles especially with upgraded exhaust

6) 2 hours to change 8 plugs (took me a LONG time to get that good!! Wires are a b*tch if you don't re'route)

7) The doors are IMPOSSIBLE to open in tight spaces! If you are a contortionist, then it's fine.

On the bright side,
1) the low end torque on the lt1 is incredible

2) The style is great

3) handling is great

4) it was a FUN car

It's all a matter of opinion. After driving a friggin Ford Focus for over a year now, I REALLY REALLY miss that car!!!

Everyone gets frustrated with their cars. I suggest parking it for a couple of months, then break it out again and remember WHY you bought your car in the first place. CARS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!!

Everyone wants a fast car, only a few will realistically hit their goals.
Everyone wants to be the fastest, but in all reality there is always something NICER, FASTER, NEWER, etc. Every time you see a car you think is the greatest, you lose a little respect for what you have.
The envy other cars really fall into that old saying "The Grass is Always Greener on the other side." If you go out and buy a 4th gen, then you will love that 4th gen until you see your next new car.

Just be happy with what you have.

first off 86 street whats is wrong wiht you man u have a sweet *** car, thats extremely fast. Second off why do people say these cars are slow stocki mean i am looking at a 95 mustang gt and it only has 225 hp a good l98 good kick its *** ne day and the exhaust is way too quiet. i dunno though i dont think a 245 hp on the 89-92 l98's is really that bad considering the age of the cars!

I can't pick a "best generation". I love first gens, but for me, an 18 year old guy, it just isn't in the budget. I don't like the look of second gen Camaros all that much, but birds are ok. 4th gens are all over the place. The new RA TA's look mean as all hell, and I like the SS's too. But 93-96 (I think) Firebirds don't do much for me, neither do Camaros. Looks wise, I love the look of a nice, clean IROC or 91/92 Z28. I also love the 87-90? Trans Ams.

Performance wise, for me, thirdgen is the way to go. I can't afford a first gen, don't want a second gen, can't afford a 4th gen and they are a PITA to work on, so I like the thirdgen ones. Fairly cheap, the L98 isn't the slowest thing around to begin with, and it doesn't take a huge budget to mod.

You realize that you coudl dump 20k into your car, and you will 99% chance of never seeing a return on the investment when its sold?

Just becuase you spent money on a part, the buyer doesnt give a ****, he wants the car, not a list of reciepts you paid for, that he will pay for as well.

Very true, but its no worse than buying a new car for $25-30k, driving it for 4-5 years and having it only be worth $4-6k. Face it, if you're doing this as an investment you're in it for the wrong reason.

i think that thirdgens are the best car. just imagine if they had come witha factory 350+hp engine, they would eb the best cars around. You can get a good f-body for 5-10,000 and a 4th gen will cost you about 35,000 for a good one. Take the extra 25,000 and that 4th gen is seeing taillights.

But to go aganist that point, people like us consider it a modification to change something on our thirdgen to something from a 4th gen. How many of you have 4th gen seats? console? motor? T-56? dash? or other stuf. I myself if i had a 4th gen would only take the transmission and possibly motor, because they have the better powerplant but i like everything else better on thirdgens. I especially love their interiors, and nuttin better than the WS6 suspension.

So in other words, 3rd gen+better motor= sweetest generation, except for maybe 1st gen, those are just awesome!

Car: Camaro of course
omg, i cant believe you people. The third gen is on of the best handling cars I have ever driven. I like 1/4 mile stuff, but I'de rater have a all around performer than a drag car w/ it's rear way up in the sky. As far as all the camaros go, the third gen is the best handling one (that's why after test driving a 4th, 1st, and my 3rd i bough my 89). As far as which one looks better, thats all opinion. But the first gen was by far not a cheap mans car vett. BESIDES A THIRD GEN LOOKS INTIMADATING, LIKE IT'S GONA EAT YOUR CHILDREN

I don't see the point of this........... as Mark stated on www.THIRDGEN.org

Maybe this belongs on www.ls1.com or www.wehate3rdgens.org

BUT if you are looking for people to agree with your obvious dis like of 3rd Generations, i don't believe this is the best place to get support.........

Try selling it with a reserve on www.ebay.com
