I want to put 93+ rims on my 85 trans am, however, i've been told that i will need 2.5" spacers, is this true because i think that is wide. Anyways, is there anything else i can do and if spacers are the only way, will they be strong enough to handle the torque?

Yes, you will need spacers. If you go with a reputable company they will be strong enough to handle the torque.

what rims were you thinking about?

These rims, they're EagleAlloy 16" rims and they say that they fit camaro and firebirds 1993 and up. I had a set of stock 95 trans am rims but same story, they sat in too far...the edge of the rim touched my inner wall on the rear without tires but i didn't know if the 2.5 inch spacers would be too much or what, or even if they would handle to torque without snapping. That would suck to have to sacrifice some performance for looks but more so if they did rip loose, it would be really expensive for me to fix a problem like that. Thanks for everyone's help so far

If the off set is the same as the 4th gen wheels, then I think 2" adapters will work.

2.5" adapters are usually too much for rims that are made to fit the 4th gen. We usually recommend 2" adapters for that application. If you're not happy with the fit, you're welcome to exhange them for a different (or custom) size.
