backspacing on 17inch rims

backspacing on 17inch rims

Im getting 17 x 8 torque thrust II's on my 91 camaro and i need to know what backspacing i can run and what a good tire size would be. Thanx

im pretty sure if you specify which year/car they come pre-fitted for your car without any modifications. I could be wrong though.

Between 5 inch and 4-1/2 inch backspacing, depending on what you think looks best. More backspacing will tuck the wheel further under the car.

Ok I have a question on this. I understand that more backspacing will tuck the tire in further but will the outside of the tire stay where it is at?

If the whole tire moves... doesn't the whole tire have to move? Yes, the edge will move with the rest of the tire.

OK I think I am beginning to understand this backspacing thing. So If I had a 17X8 rim and then bought a 17X9 rim and added the entire extra inch to backspacing then the inch would be gained on the inside of the wheel, right?
