Window Tinting

I have tinted my truck windows before, but im assuming that camaro rear window and sides are alittle harder. I was gonna have the back professionally done, then pull my side windows out and tint them in my garage. My question is how much for the back to get 100% tint or something very close. Also, how hard are the side windows to tint, and what the hell. . . hows bout the back window, how hard is that too? Cause Ive always liked the sleak look of tinted things like blackouts, tint, black wall tires, ya know, that stuff. . .

I'd just have them professionally done. Costed me $75(repeat customer discount) Definely worth it. I've tried to do a Camaro once, and It was pretty tough. Curved glass is always tricky.

When I was looking into having mine done, the guy at the shop told me that the back windows in our cars are pretty tough and you cant use that thick of tint because of the curves.

My back window was tined from my previous owner and it is almost black- all the way around can't see in very easy. I don't know the % but it is dark- look at the pic to the left.

If you want totally dark - you want limo/5%.

Check your state laws before doing the sides to be sure what percentage to do. In Illinois it is against the law to tint the sides. Most cops around our area will not give you a ticket for tint unless they want to tack it onto another ticket for something else-you know the end of the month quota thing. The higher the % the lighter the tint. The picture attached is 5%.

Also let the pros do the 3rd gen. Too tricky plus you get a warrenty.

I did mine last week (limo/5%) but, only because I had a $50 gift card from autozone. It's not too awful hard but, it's not exactly easy either. I'd suggest a pro mainly because more often than not, a prof. will use a metalized film that won't discolor over time like mine will eventually do once the cold is over and the sun starts beating down on it. At a relaxed pace (and screwing up on the side 2 times) took me just around 3 hrs.

I just got my windows tinted at a prof place, hatch 5% limo and 35% on the sides.Cost me $200.That back windw is a pain in the a$$,expect to pay around $75 to $125 for a good job on the hatch.

Dang, $200?!? Thats crazy. There is a shop up here that will do mine for me with 5% hatch, 40%(I think) sides with a lifetime warranty for $135. I guess if the tint is really good job, who cares. Just as long as the thirdgen looks sweet right

I'll just make one final note on this. If you do plan to try it yourself, wait till summer. The cold air makes it even that much harder. Plus it'll dry much faster, and you can roll your windows down much sooner.

$200 is more than i wanted to pay,but a friend of mine got his done a little over a year ago for $125 with a warranty and it is already fading,so i thought i'd pay for some better quality tint, anyway it looks sweet on my black IROC,oh yeah also had them put my IROC door decals on.

The average price for a tint job on these vehicles is from $150 - $200.

You might get it done for less if you use non-metallic tint, it looks and costs cheaper.

You can also save a few bucks if you strip any old tint off and thoroughly wash the glass. Save the tint dude some labor.

35% is legally the lowest you can go on the sides and I THINK the back. Most shops will not tint any lower for legal reasons and even if they do you probably won't get a warranty.
