Fixing scratches from rubbing compound

My friend used rubbing compound to try and get some imperfections out of his hood and I am going to be buying his car soon. Short of replacing the hood what can I do to get rid of the tiny scratches? Anything? Even just something to cover it up a little bit. Thanks..

Rubbing compound is not a final step. You don't apply it thinking that will fix whatever. All you have to do is pick up where he left off. In other words, buff it out. You'll have to use a high speed buffing wheel, but if you're not careful you can burn the paint. This is assuming the paint is still decent (ei not trying to buff a missing clearcoat).

What i used to get out the scratches is i took a pastel crayon (closest to my color).....and then run that into the scratch. Then take the rubing compound and work that into it. Then take your wax and go over that. You will still see a slight blemish...but it came out alot better then looking at the scratch. IMO though....you can try it. Hope this helps.

That sounds basically like an even cheaper alternative to that "color cure". Maybe you could try some formula 113 on it?
