Not only that, it's not directional tires that make the difference. I had Cooper mud and snows on my original 16" lace rims and still couldn't move well at all because they were to fat (stock 245/50/16 size). I went and got 15" steel rims from a salvage yard and put 215/75/15 Perelli P2 snows on it and it goes through just about anything.

Yeah that snow was a pain. I was stuck at my girl's house since friday. Well, since saturday technically. My car was so buried. 5 people including me worked about 3 hours on it on monday, no go. 5 worked on it today for about 2 hours, and finally she came out of her snowy tomb. Took alot of shoveling and salting around my tires. Here are a few pics...if they work. The first couple are of the cool snow drift that was on my car halfway thru the night.

And this is in the morning. Still snowing though... The snow was piled up to my door handles on the driver's side. And because it was blowing, it was all packed under the car as well. Funny thing tho, the snow all on top of my car blew off...so I didnt need to clean it.

The snow didn't stop my truck at all though. I pushed snow up over my hood to go out and buy a shovel. The plow didn't make it to my house till mid day monday. Glad I bought the 4x4.

well brand new good year eagle hp p245/50 r16's came on my 88 formula 350, so after 6 months of driving some one wrecked my car so i threw on rims from my other wrecked car and blad tires from my 88 iroc-z onto the 88 formula and keep the 88 formula rims and new tires and then transfered them onto my 91 rims...

they are starting to crack all around now, so its new tires and maybe rims..

they work well in rain and ok in snow, great on dry payment..
i am sure there are better tires out there..

Since I'm not an engineer, I couldn't tell you the reason behind it, I can only tell you that the directionals I have get traction in snow that rivals bald tires. The only assumption I can make is because of the larger solid block tread design and the directional tread pattern.

Wow that's a lot of snow I spent one weekend in the mountains when it was snowing and I hated it. I could only imagine what it is like to deal with it everyday. Now I wonder if I should wear shorts tomorrow

We only got 12 inches and that was enough! New record for this time of year in 115 or 150 (cant remember) years. Now, I love winter, I love the coolness and some snow....but when its 4 degrees and -14 in the wind, that SUCKS!

I had to change a car battery at work today, and it was way out in a parking lot, and when I was done, I could not feel my hands AT ALL, totaly numb. SUCKS!

Me of all people actualy wanting spring....sheesh

Check out the date on the bottom of the picture........
It's actually Feb 1st 2003

Driving in the snow can be fun though, it's the only time the LO3 can actually do reckless driving with ease....
