Removing old tint

My '88 Formula has really bad tint on all the windows and I want to remove all of it. Is there a better way to do so than just hacking at it with a razorblade?

Humm I dunno, I think there has to be something you can spray on them while you use the blade. TTT!

Heres what I did:

It has to be hot outside and sunny, like an 80 degree day or more. Get some ammonia based window cleaner and spray soak the windows down real good. Let the car sit in the sun for the whole day and make sure the windows are up and it gets real hot inside.

The next day use a razor blade and start peeling back an edge. As you peel it back continue to spray the window cleaner under the lifted edge while slowly peeling off the tint in one big sheet.

Its time consuming but I never thought I'd get mine off and it came off nicely.

Good luck...

i just did this to a 71 VW bug that i'm restoring. it took me about an hour to do the whole car. first buy a bunch of razor blades (i went through like 20, but i think i was pushing way to hard) and defentally get a blade holder thats comfterable. pick up some Green 409 (super green 409) its called something like that, you can get it anywhere. i sprayed each window down pretty good once then went back to the window i was going to start on and sprayed it again then started on it, i couldnt believe how well the 500 year old tinting came off. make sure to lay down something to catch the tinting, it comes off in long strips as wide as the blade and tends to get everywhere. good luck, ohya i did this inside a 30 degree garage... still worked great. just keep the window wet

i just got a can of adhesive remover, tore the old tinting off then sprayed the adhesive remover on the glass and let it sit for like 5 min and it turned the glue to jelly and it came right off with the blade. i got a ticket for my side windows being too dark and had to take the tint off, it took me about an hour to do both sides.
