Z-28 spoiler/ Paint questions

First thing I was wandering is: I have read about the 91-92 Z-28 High ris spoiler. Is it the same spoiler that came on the Z-28 those years or is it higher? Also I plan on getting my car painted a Dark Mettalic Red, and I want to save some money by prepping the car myself. What do I need to do to it to have it readdy for paint and save me money?¿?

Thanks alot guys,
Steve

Its the same spoiler. To paint your can you need to cut away the old finish and repair any dents, dings, and rust. Do a search for more info.

It is 2 inches taller, the stock Z28 spoilers are 3' the new high rise one is 5'. I just got one.

Actually I'm really bummed because when I removed my stock RS rear/side spoilers and the freakin rear hatch lid is sticking out about a half an inch! now I have to remove, realign, and replace that before putting on the new spoiler other wise it wont look right.
.. guess I'll be going to wallmart to get some silicone and adhesive weather stripping.

We're talking about two different spoilers. You had the RS spoiler, now you have the 91-92 Z spoiler. Thats why theres a 2 inch difference. There is no difference between a stock 91-92 Z-28 spoiler and an aftermarket 91-92 z-28 spoiler as theyre both high rise spoilers.

My bad. I actually thought the z28 stock spoiler was 3 inch and the aftermarket one was 5 but apparently
I was thinking about the 'stock' looking aftermarket spoiler that is 2 inches taller than the stock 3 inches but they stopped making them.
