I used 2.5" becuase I had the larger offset wheels (56mm), but If I had the normal off set (38mm) than they told me to get 2.25". I also didn't need rear adaptors because I put a 93 Z28 rear in.

This info if for the ZR-1/SS wheels I have.

I put 4th gen 10-spokes on my 91 RS.
The backspace on the wheels was 7"
The required backspace on my car is 5.5"
So I used a 1.5" adapter. It fit the wheels well.
What is the backspace on your wheels?
