Chroming a bow-tie grill....
I would like to chrome my bow-tie grille. I think it would look sweet with the clear markers and all...
Any input?

v6 POWA!!
actually rksport and street trends make a buetifull carbon fibre peice to replace the stock ls1 grilles, dirt cheap. Street trends is also working on a new peice for the 93-97 griles to flush it carbon fibre.
Pays to have good freinds in the bizzzzz.

my idea behind chroming the bow-tie grille...
well i always liked the billet grilles, the fact that they look like chrome... but i don't like the design of the billet grille...
sooooo why not take a bowtie grille that everyones loves, and dip it...
i think i might just do it!

The grille really isnt a grille so yod have this big splotch of solid chromey with a cpl lights in the middle......
maybe better lookign on a brighter color car to help cover up the chromeyness.

plastic X chrome dip = chips of chrome everywhere. i don't think that it will stick to the plastic well, but it might be cool to look at for the first two days you had it till some jerk in a dump truck lets his load loose

dude, pull yours off the car, there are only 4 screws. when you get it off, twist it. it flexes and twist all over the place. you can also see the molding lines in it, you should be able to see those with the grill still on the car. it's not metal, i promise.

Geez come on man, it's plastic. All of the thirdgen camaro grilles are plastic. If you don't believe me, just stick a magnet on it and watch it fall off.
(I have a bowtie grille right here, and, you guessed it, it's plastic.)

On another note, chroming it would look like *** imho. Think of a big blinging piece of chrome on a car that has NO chrome on it anywhere. EW.

You come up with some strange ideas dude.
But anyway... chromed plastic looks cheap. Actually, in my opinion, chromed anything looks cheap, but at least when you chrome metal, it can be durable and smooth. With plastic you'll get neither.

I think you'd have better luck with some Chrome-Illusion spray paint, Easy..when done right, it can look REALLY good...!
PS - Remind me to burn you sometime on not knowing the difference between metal and pastic...
