paint
As I was backing out of my driveway this morning, I tapped the front fender of a car, right above the wheel well, with the back of my car. I didn't even see the car, looked both ways before backing out, nothing was comming, and I backed right in to it. Didn't even look when I walked out to my car. I didn't expect anyone to be parked there, especially since it's right in fron of a No Parking Any Time sign. It left a little ding on the car, about half the size of a dime, very hard to see. It was my neighbors friends car, and they weren't home, so I went up to the car and realy looked at it, it took me a while to find it. Anyway, on my car, It hit at about one quarter of the way in from the passenger side on the rear bumper. But what gets me is this: A huge spot, on the passenger side corner of the rear bumper just came right off. When I looked at the car, the paint was still on, but it looked like it's been peeling for yers. I just ran my hand down it, and it just fell off! Right to the primer. The primers still smooth as a baby's ***! I don't understand. Why did this happen? ...I guess that's what I get for getting a Maaco paint job, though.
Anyway, my real question is this: I really don't want to pay someone (like Maaco) to repaint this, and I do have access to one of those paint guns that use an air compressor (I have no idea what they're called) Where would I buy paint for this? Could I just go to maaco and see if they'll sell me some of the paint? And another thing, how hard is it to use one of those guns? I can do all the sanding myself, that's easy. And, I'm pretty good with spray paint, I can cover up spots almost unnoticable if I can find a good enough match, but they don't, or at least I can't find, a can of spray paint with 1994 Ford Chrome yellow, or any yellow for that matter, so is using a gun that much differend?
Alright, I think I'm done...

Any ideas? I really just want to know how hard it is to use a paint gun, as opposed to a regular spray can. I want to know if I should attempt it myself, or just rbing it somewhere?

Its more of a practice makes perfect thing. Just take yor time and keep a uniform pattern with about a 50% overlap. Try practicing on an old panel first. Try your local NAPA or a similar auto body supply for your paint needs. Oh Yea , I'm very sorry to hear about your Macco experience. I used to be a painter at the one in my area for about two months and coul'nt take it anymore. If you could have seen the things that they were doing to peoples cars. Good Luck

its not hard at all. i just painted my car 2 days ago and its not hard. just use thin coats and feather it in. it shouldnt be to hard
it is pretty difficult to do paint blends if you are new at it..depends on how old your paint job is...did you ever tell your neighbor you hit his friends car? eh...good automotive paint will run you bout 400 in materials(paint, clear, tape, paper sand paper)
