Polishing rims prob with paint

I have polished a set of Iroc's before with no problem and they looked good. this set however their is a problem. we got them striped down completely and primed for paint.we painted with a high temp paint gun metal gray matalic color. painted and it sat over night came back the next morning and the paint was not dry or seem to be setting to the rim i guess. anybody else have this problem. it was kinda humid that day but i think it might have been something else. any suggestions on how to get the paint to set.
