Weight of A/C parts if anyone wants to know...

I took out most of my a/c system today and weighted them seperatly if anyone would like to knwo the weight. I posted this here cause this is were I seem to find most of hte a/c delete posts.

Condenser - 5lbs
compressor - 15lbs
a/c box w/blower motor - 8lbs
evaperator - 5lbs
tubing, dryer, etc - 3lb

thats all I took out so far I still have to take out the heater core and what not. IN an attemp to make my car as light as possible.

Guess it's not quite as high as everyone expected. I eventually plan to take it out, but mainly due to more space, but loss of weight is just an added benefit.

yea the weight isnt a super huge drop. But 45lbs off hte front of our cars is a good thing since it'll help with teh weight distribution. Also DAMN the engine bay looks so much nicer now. Its nice being able to easily tighen the back header bolt or easily getting to the spark plug.

Hope you don't sweat in Hot Weather, and you just lost about $300 on resale value if you sell a car with a chopped up engine compartment.

Ok all who have removed their AC. How do I get this last little piece of the firewall?? I can't get these 2 spots in yellow away from the firewall, I just got a picture of what I think is on the inside but its messed up for some reason I removed any nuts/bolts I could from the inside but nothing. The piece I think thats holding it on looks like a long threaded stud with some type of cover on it. Hopefully somebody knows what I'm talking about. Thanks guys.

There are 2 bolts from the inside, under the carpet. You are going to have to invision where they are inside the car. I am not good at explaining where they are. I took mine out this way also. Took me awhile to figure out there were bolts on the inside.

Thanks, finally found it after some more searching. There was a little flap that was cut out of my jute padding on the firewall that I had to pull back. Thanks

i know everything i removed including the box came it at 45 lbs. makes a huge improvement in the engine bay. i'd say that i'm going to miss it but i never used it anyway.

Considering that a old lady side swipped me and made my car considered salvaged...I'm dont really care about the resale value. I'm keeping this car until its ripped in half. No matter if the whole front end is smashed or the back or whatever. If it can still drive then imma still drive it.

I figure, if you got T-tops, you dont need an A/C.
Heck, my car overheats if I use the A/C on hot days anyways, it only really works when it is raining outside.

BTW, You can delete the A/C and keep the heater/vent/defroster, correct?

AC is for old people!!!!(not me).

although i will admit it gets mighty hot here and i sweat in the summer when the sun is out. hell, its a good workout IMO

it gets 100*+ here with high humidity in the summer - i dont have AC

yes

it gets pretty damn hot down here in FL also but i can deal with it. i've always liked the feel of the wind to cool me rather than keeping the windows closed and having cold air blowing in my face. hell even at work where i drive a delivery truck with nice A/C, i still dont use it. and my car seems to like runnin at around 170-180* rather than 220* all the time.

I live in CA and removing my AC was still one of the best things that i have done to my car, completely cleaned up the engine bay, especially with the none AC box and 1LE AC delete pulley. Who needs AC, my windows roll down and i have t-tops.

I won't be putting the non-working air conditioning system back into my engine bay during the rebuild. I had air con in my Oldsmobile, and it was great, but we don't really have the weather in this country to require it. It can get hot, but neither hot nor humid enough to NEED air conditioning.
