New paintjob w/ homemade cowl hood...pics inside
I just wanted to show off my new paint job and get some opinions on my lowbuck cowl hood. The scoop was a JC Whitney peice that I ordered and bonded to the stock hood. I dont kow if I'm going to leave it this way or not. I just want some outside opinions first. As for the wheels, the red insets had turned pink and looked awful so I had to fix it as lowbuck as possible cuz thats the only way I could afford fixin' up my ride. Dont worry guys you're not going to hurt my feelings so be truthful.

I don't think it looks all that bad. Looks pretty good in my opinion. I'm not so sure about what you did with the wheels. Did ya just paint them? If so, then I'm not so sure that's the route I would've went. It is different though. Just try polishing them. It don't cost hardly anything to do it except time. The paint job looks good though. Very nice car in my opinion. Keep up the good work.

You ruined the looked of those rims! removed whatever it is you put on them and polish them or just paint the inserts...but painting them all the way you did ruined the look...
Just my 2 cents and opinion.

i am not too sure about the scoop. i like the wheels you just need to polish the lip.

I don't think the wheels are that bad, but they don't go with that car at all. I think its the color of the car and then those black rims, it just doesn't look right. Also the scoop would look better if it was actually molded in somehow and you couldn't see the edges. This is all just my opiniong though. Otherwise nice ride though

MAN! what are you guys talking about...those are the 91-92 rims and they arent suppose to be painted...if anything they are suppose to be polished....shine baby shine!
not a cheap paint covering...
if they were turning pink then stipping them all the way down would have looked better than that..

The cowl isn't my favorite. Its too small, and I don't like how you can pretty much see where it meets the hood. It'd look better all smooth.
And the rims I don't like at all, you shoulda polished them.
Now is the color of the car red or orange? Looks orange, but that could just be the picture.

The scoop needs to be blended more into the hood for a smooth transition from scoop to hood. I don't think the rims are that bad, I kind of like how they look dark like that. One thing is for sure, your paint looks great! Nice ride man.

As for the scoop, the reason I did'nt blend it all the way in is cuz every one that I have seen done like that has always cracked around the edges. I would have liked polished rims too but the previous owner had curbed them so badly that they were badly gouged and I did,nt feel like putting all of thet time in them, anyways I have spare set of them is I ever change my mind.. They are not really black, thay are charcoal met.. As for where I live, I'm in Jacksonville.

hey man,
personally I think the cowl looks wonderful. That, however, is just an opinion. It is axiomatic that you like it also because its on the car
. Nice work. As for the rims, I personally dont mind them because its different and doesnt look too bad, but if it were my car I would be hunting for a set of better stock rims or after markets... I think some ZQ8's (or what ever they are) would look good in either the black or red back color. They sell them on paceparts.com for about 750.

Not trying to hurt your feelings.
But i think the cowl looks horrible. Not that you didnt do a great job at putting it on, and painting it, because you did. Its just, it does not look good at all in my opinion. Also the rims, no no, not good looking at all. Throw on some polished stock iroc rims or something, it'd make that car look a thousand times better. Also, with a hood, why not just a stock Z hood, or maybe a 91-92 with some nice scoops, it'd look really clean, and aggresive.
You did a great job on those things though, i just dont think they are working out for your car.

First of all, I think you've did a great job on everything....it would be pretty hard to actually make your own cowl induction hood....and it looks like you've did a good job on it. As for the wheels....I'm not a fan of black wheels AT ALL.....so...I'm not big on the wheels...but if you like it..that's all that matters.....good job with the car.

Thanx for the replys. I guess its about 50/50 on opinions. I agree on the hood partly cuz it just does'nt look as good as a real one but it turned out pretty good for what I have in it. I kinda like my rims thought, they give it that "down to buisness" look not the shiny show car look, but thats just my opinion. I may buy another stock hood later on and repaint it when I get time, but that one will work for now. Theres a few more things I gotta fix first like the windsheild and headliner. Thanx again guys.

Good color, Nice job on the cowl. I'd try to polish out the lips on those wheels. It looks really cool when the car is moving, and it prevents the wheels from looking like they're dirty.
not to big on the hood but i think the wheels look okay. but the one thing that i realy like about the car is that it has all the emblems shaved. i almost shaved mine when i painted it a week ago but didnt. kinda wish i didnt now. which reminds me i need to take some pics of it with the digital cam and post them.
