Backspacing for TT2's???

I'm gonna get 17X9.5's all the way around and it seems that 5.5" is the correct backspacing for the rears. As for the fronts I've heard 5.5 and 5.25, is the quarter inch gonna matter either way? My 15X7's rub now if I lock the steering so how much more trouble will the 17X9.5's be with the TT2 backspacing?

Im using 5.25" and 5.5" would not have worked on my car with out the rims scraping the tie rods. With the 5.25"s there is less than 1/4" clearance.
I don't know though if there can be a difference in which brand tie rods you have for how much they build and so forth - but there definitely isn't a lot of room.
I know I've heard some people saying that their 5.5"s scrape in the beginning, but that it "wears off" after a while.

If I were buying again I would go 5.25" for the front and 5.5" for the back this time as well.

Just my $.02

Thanks for the reply Ken. I remember reading in another post that you had those sizes and was just curious about the other people with TT2's, but since you seem to be the only one who responds I'll go with your advice. Thanks again
