i'm getting some gta rims. the outer lip is already polished aluminum and nice and shiney. however, the middle is painted a rust colored orange (not even gold). how should i go about painting them. should i sand down the paint? should i just paint over? thanks (btw, i already did a search)

 

try and sand them down if you can't sand them down mask off the shiney part because you want to save that then prime and paint what color are you going to paint them? what color is your car, not saying paint them the color of your car but i've got a white car and i want to get the black GTA rims.

back when i had gta rims, i painted right over the top of the gold.. i just used some primer first, then a few coats of silver paint. they looked perfect till the day i shipped them away... and i washed them many-a-time without any problems.

 

I used aircraft remover to strip most of the paint off of my GTA wheels and then painted them gloss black. They were orginally a graphite black that looked kinda dull.
