Painting 91-2Z wheels

I'm planning on getting rid of an extra set of 91-2 Z wheels (they will eventually be in the classifieds, I'm not selling them soon) I have laying around. The clear was toast on them and the center caps didn't weather very well either so, my plans are to polish the wheel lip nicely and paint the rest/cap black. I have no intention to polish them (I don't have the time and it's not worth it just to sell).
My question is, would this look alright (not a fiinal product, just painted quick to see how it would look) or should I just re-clear them ? I'd consider keeping them if my camaro if it weren't teal, I don't think they would look good on it.

I dont think it looks too good, but maybe a lighter charcoal color would.

That is exactly what I want to do to mine. There's no way Im gonna spend the time to polish them.

Oh man the weekend is here and you post a pic like that....
Now im gonna have to truly debate doing that to mine.

:sillylol: brody.. getting late ?

borla... Tom K's (sorry I forgot your last name) sweet Formula was my idea. Honestly though, I'm just looking for like or dislike comments. It's kind of a poll to see weather painting them would help get them out of my garage faster.

Tom's car...

Heh I hate black wheels, IMO they look awful, and 90% of the people who see them will think they are wheels missing hubcabs LOL.

They just remind me of rust bucket Civics with no hubcaps, I see it all the time.

I dunno, I would have to say that I am partial to the inserts only being painted to match... Definately a different spin on it though!

That Viper is sick!!! :hail:

I think the wheels dont look too bad. I was considering doing that to my 85-7 IROC wheels, but I just cant do that to the polish job I did on them. Actually, when I painted them, and they were all masked off, I took off the masking on the outer rim first and thought it looked pretty sweet. I wish I had taken a pic., but I didnt, so oh well.

Maybe I'll buy a set and see what it looks like.

WWasem I always wondered what they would look like new. I replaced my yellowing/cracking ones with the ROHs. Now the old ones are for the snow tires.

I must say those ROHs do look sweet though. But I always had a thing for the color matching. I have the stock set of rims, the 15x7s and they match in color too but don't look anywhere near as nice, they have my winter tires mounted on them.

As for my 1991-1992 Z set, after they were refinished and everything and tires were mounted, they looked BRAND NEW. And the other nice thing was they don't even lose any air!

if they were mine, I'd polish the lip, and paint the spokes GUNMETAL rather than black.

as you can see from my sig pic, I like polished IROC wheels and the look of gunmetal spoked wheels w/ a polished lip. as you can see my GTA wheel look-a-like Grand Prix wheels.
