Well it is in, How does it look?

I finally got my engine in after the TBI to TPI Swap.

I think quite an improvement, both in preformance and Looks!

By the way, what do you guys use on your engine "rubber" hoses, etc. To blacken them up with out getting "sticky" and attract dirt?

Looks sweet! I have always like the looks of the TPI setups versus the TBI. I also think the nice white containers also add to the clean look! Sweet job man!

Very, Very Nice job there.....

Altought what's going on with the air intake tube, it looks a bit odd.....

Any problems encountered while doing this??

Tips, tricks, etc...

I've mainly heard it's just long and tedious with all the taking out and switching stuff to make the TPI work......

I can't wait to throw this TBI down a hill....:lala:

I use STP Son of a Gun. It seems to work good for me and doesn't attact dust like some other brands tend to.

Looks excelent, although I see no reason to put tpi on a crappy motor like that. It's really not the tbi that holds the L03 back, its the L03 that holds the L03 back, lol.

It is an SLP Cold air intake for a 86-89 car

[Very nice! Is it SD or MAF? It look likes is has a MAF. or is it a straight plastic pipe?
Yes it is a straight pipe, I got a deal on a used SLP intake setup. So I just put a pipe in place of the MAF.

[Looks excelent, although I see no reason to put tpi on a crappy motor like that. It's really not the tbi that holds the L03 back, its the L03 that holds the L03 back, lol.
I have to disagree. With the mods I have done in particular cam and new ported/polished heads, this thing runs like a raped ape compared to what it was like before also, I still have to put the posi and gears in it and that will be another kick in the pants.

What do you mean? 1989 TPI is the same as previous years minus the cold start injector? 1985-1986 blocks are the older style heads and block and they work with TPI?

Remember TPI was a factory option from 1985-1992.

Did you have any clearance problems with the passenger side valve cover and the heater box?? I have the edelbrock tall valve covers, and I had to cut away part of the heater box to get the motor to fit!

I don't want to total it all up, I'm better off not knowing. I did a whole hell of a lot of changes, they are all in my sig, I'm sure I'm in the $1500-2000 range. lets see..
Used SD TPI unit with harness $400
Heads $600
Ceramic Coated headers $500
Banks exhaust $300
Misc GM Orig TPI Stuff $300+
MSD Wires Cap Rotor Wires $120
etc...

Get my reasoning..... I Still have to have the posi unit put in it....
So Easily in the $2000-$3000 Range.....

But whats a hobby good for, bescides making you broke!
